I really enjoyed "Jackie Brown," and was amazed by the performances Tarantino got out of Pam Grier and Robert Forster -- two actors long-since discarded by the mainstream. Before, while I had appreciated QT's style, I considered him more of a showman than a top director. Jackie Brown put everything in perspective -- Tarantino is a top director and a great showman.

Barry Super no, he already sold true romance before Harvey was involved with reservoir dogs. This has been confirmed in interviews. Tarantino had met Tony Scott(I believe this part I heard from the audio commentary to true romance by Tarantino himself, maybe Tony Scott). Tony read both true romance and reservoir dogs and wanted to do both. He told tony he could buy one of the scripts but not both as he wanted to direct one of them. History shows which one tony bought. Then, Tarantino met Lawrence bender and told him about reservoir dogs. Tarantino wanted to do it with 30k. When lawrence read it, he said it’s better than 30k, to give him one month and if he got interest in a month, that they would try and make it the right way(bigger budget), if not they could shoot it with the 30k he got from true romance. Lawrence got interest in a month when Harvey called Lawrence and Quentin saying he wanted to do the movie.

L tilli yeah. You need to give it a rewatch sometime in the future. I believe it’s right there with Pulp Fiction as a masterpiece in his resume. The film was more a slice of life / character study following the main actors during three days in their lives in 1969. It gave the movie a lot of freedom and room to breath because there wasn’t that much plot getting in the way of the story. It’s a vibe piece and an amazing work. QT worked his way up to this classic.

He knows what 4K is, but was probably not familiar with the packaging for 4K Blu-Rays. The text is also pretty small for him to read on the spot as well. Black-Ray is at least a funny joke, whereas Fallon calls it a DVD lol.

Must be great to be talking to Quentin, I'd be delighted, if I had an conversation with him where we only talk about movies. One of the main reasons why I love Tarantino's movies is that he, apart from being a good screenwriter, has a good ear for the music I don't know any other filmmaker as good as him at choosing the soundtracks for the films.
