As a Filipino, I wanna thank you Quentin and Roger for mentioning Canada giving a shot at a Filipino action film when theaters are filled up with blockbuster movies. I’m from the Philippines and I’m a massive reelblend fan and a massive cinephile. I’m 19 right now so growing up, the success of marvel coincided with my childhood and made me think this is what Hollywood is. But I always wondered why the Oscar’s never give superhero films any contention apart from the dark knight and black panther. So that made me curious about what Hollywood really is. I was stuck in lockdown and the film that changed my life was Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood. It made me go through what an actor and a stunt double journey is around that era and a famous actress married to a director looked like. It made me watch films of Quentin, Brad , Leo and Margot. Quentin’s fantastic filmography definitely one of my favorite directors ever And now, Brad Pitt is my favorite actor ever. His work with Fincher, Tarantino and movies like snatch Jesse James moneyball and so much more made me love this guy and his whole filmography. Leo’s films are so so good and I think if it wasn’t for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker I would’ve had him win best actor in 2020. And Margot being arguably the biggest a list female actor right now. So I just wanted to say that I’m a massive movie fan ever since theaters went back up I watch every movie at least twice. it was great hearing roger do a shoutout for a Filipino movie because, here’s where Philippine cinema is at right now and I’m sure you will be interested to hear this: all cinemas play like cinemas do in the Us without any Filipino films the whole year round until Dec.25- Jan.8 which plays Filipino films exclusively with 0 Hollywood films. So I’m kinda concerned with my country’s cinema status and also there’s no genre filmmaking in my country, the biggest hits are rom coms. It actually caused controversy when we were the last country to have Spider-Man No way home play because it was out around Dec.17 in the US but since the theatrical release of the Filipino films was Dec.25-Jan.8 we had to watch no way home for the first time at Jan.8 which made people boycott the Filipino films and I had to delete all social media platforms to avoid spoilers haha. Anyways thank you reelblend for giving your listeners a chance to learn about filmmaking whether that’s Kevin with his filmmaking techniques and aspect ratio’s or Jake with his takes (pun intended ) andcharacter and story analysis. And Sean’s love for the mcu and Gabe’s amazing work behind the scenes. Right now I sort of have a very small role in a Filipino film that is in a Hollywood production that I could hopefully can share to you guys when I get the chance. Thanks guys and congrats on Tarantino Vol.4. Dunkirk!

@richiekoesel242 жыл бұрын
That honestly was better than his temple of doom comments for me, and I love that he loves temple of doom! I like Crystal skull, it’s nnnooo where near as bad as people say it is, it’s a good and fun Indy adventure in a 50s b-movie style, still probably the worst of the 4 Indy flicks sure, I don’t think Spielberg was going into to CS trying to out do raiders. In the end, all film is subjective, and I respect Tarantino’s Indiana Jones thoughts and opinions. Can’t wait for Indy 5!!

@TMBTM2 жыл бұрын
I did not listen to the podcast yet but YES. Temple Of Doom is amazing because it is an adventure without family members involved, without "true love" involved, without "bigger than life religious artefacts" to find, etc. It focuses on Indy at a moment when he turns from someone who is all about "fortune and glory" to someone who is simply a good man wanting to do what's right. It is a package of a non-stop adventure action movie with some comedy, with some horror moments. Temple Of Doom is EVERYTHING and Indiana Jones movie needs to be. Now... I still would say Raiders is the better movie from a cinematographic point of view and I can understand people prefering Crusade because the duo Ford/ Connery is great. But Temple Of Doom is, for me, the definition of what Indiana Jones IS.

Quentin should either make a Cliff Booth sequel to Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, set in the 70s, with him getting in various scrapes. Or 40 Lashes Less One, except it's a trilogy! (Just count it as one film) Or a 70s set film noir style cop/buddy movie starring Brad Pitt and Samuel L Jackson as a detective duo exploring the Los Angeles underbelly. Or just make all three!
@rainflowers10992 жыл бұрын
@@sij809 Yeah I understand his reasons, I do wonder if he couldnt just keep making them until he feels like he's made a below par film, then quit. But I guess he'd hate the idea his last film would be a lesser film. Then again that could happen anyway. His 10th might not be that good (however unlikely that is). I think he said Once Upon A Time In Hollywood was his last big epic film, and his 10th one would be something smaller. That might rule out a few things. I think he did mention that if he made a 70s film it would be a detective crime style film. I'd love to see that. And he said he'd loved being able to use more modern music in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, so maybe it will be something set in more recent times. Who knows, guess were lucky for all the films he has made, such an entertaining back catalogue of films.
