@@CinemaBlend Every time I watch a Tarantino movie in order to enjoy it I have to put myself into the mindset of 17 year old in other words a child. He is the end result of a long process that divorced movies from their roots in theater, literature, poetry, etc. He is pretty images but functionally illiterate. The dialog is inane & puerile. His movies are full of live action cartoon characters. They take a person back to a time when they wore a diaper & ate pablum, picked their nose & ate the snot, & gorged themselves with candy bars & soda pop. I'm not saying that you can't enjoy a Tarantino movie but when I watch one of his films I find the same thing in them as I do when I watch The Three Stooges.

@@EC-ol8nz i've heard no one else mention this yet, but the Movie Lot scenes (so Kurt Russell character, Bruce Lee (etc)) all comes right after Brad's character is shown on the roof recollecting what happened, so what is shown in the movie is not actually within the reality of the movie's events - what is shown is actually Brad's character's recollection of those events. Memory is often subjective and rarely fully accurate so what we see as the portrayal of Bruce in the movie is not actually how Bruce behaved in the timeline of the movie but how Brad's character remembers him behaving.

He knows so much and so much he could share and teach future filmmakers about themselves, the process, and creativity. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about movies. One of the best touches of the film is definitely Rick coming back from the line drop. Really upped his stakes...brilliance on both DiCaprio for coming up with it and Tarantino for seeing it's wisdom. PS: "Can you blame a Borgia for being a Borgia?" Maybe the most important Dramatic question...Mr. Tarantino is one of the last of the Mohicans. Hope I'm wrong but hats off to him BIG TIME..!

24:40, I do agree, but not everyone has easy access to film or ways to process it. if you have the resources and want a film look then great, use actual film, but for the short film maker those grain and flicker effects are invaluable.

It was a release of stored aggression for so many people against those criminals. I was born shortly after the Murders. But growing up all I heard was how it changed America. Q gave us back that America- if at least in a Movie. I love how Q explains how the ending basically neuters Manson and the family. There needs to be a short clip in his next movie showing the 3 way fight between Leo, Brad and Leo’s “wife” on who kept the dog after Cliff got out of hospital 🤣🤣

a friend of mine gave me a free pass, and I went and saw it. possibly my favorite QT film, 'Jackie Brown'. I even saw DeNiro put in a good acting performance, and it had been years since I really thought he was as good as he used to be (except for comedies, which he really does well). a documentary I just saw, points out that the airport corridor wall in 'Once upon a time in HOLLYWOOD' is actually re-created exactly, from 'Jackie Brown'. so he must regard it highly. and according to wikipedia, Elmore Leonard, who wrote Rum Punch, which JB was based on, said it was his favorite presentation of his literary work on film, out of 26 pictures. Nice interview. Great getting to hear Tarantino actually just talk. Truly a legend. It was pretty apparent that the interviewers were trying their hardest not to make it obvious how starstruck they were and to not come off as just a couple giddy fans. I definitely cringed a little at the tattoo bit and the begging Quentin not to retire bit toward the end. Also could have done without the "behind-the-interview" part at the end-it's not exactly embarrassing per se but it's just kind of like.. own it guys. I mean, don't be fake or anything but you don't need to advertise how big of a deal this is for you, just be fucking cool. If I were you, I'd fucking want to die at the thought of Quentin Tarantino ever hearing that post-interview part.

It’s clear Quentin likes the bombastic nature of film rather than the subtlety, hence his preference of film over digital (a more complicated vs a more simple process) and Spectre over Skyfall (the former being more schlock and action and the latter being more stripped down character drama). ALSO interesting that both of those choices go against Roger Deakins who shoots digital and was the cinematographer for Skyfall.

I met him at a signing years ago and pretty much everyone had a few minutes with him to sign stuff (got the Death Proof scrip signed) and when I finally got to him in about 5 minutes he mentioned a tee shirt I was wearing for some old sci-fi film pointed at it (really cheesy B movie ‘Mark of the Astro-Zombies) and went off on a tangent about the film, director, films it was like and the era it came out and talked about all sorts of stuff in that brief time, I said to him I’d love to see him tackle a proper sci-fi film and he said “well.. I do like the genre but I’ve got a little WW2 film I think I’ll work on next” he then put his hand over his mouth and said “Opps.. I’ve said too much already” and laughed, honestly I think he’s just a really down to earth guy and as a director he hasn’t made a bad film yet.. it will be interesting to see what he does for his final movie but I can’t see him staying away from making more..

Loved the conversation about the digital V film. I never thought I'd hear that conversation with a professional. I thought I was the only one noticing that old school film has a MOVIE look to it. Digital looks almost too clean. Great interview I think people's take on Hollywood in the future about now, will be virtue signalling. Scared to offend. We are so lucky that Quentin Tarantino was already established and making his own films under his own rules. Leave it to people giving permission in Hollywood and you are getting virtue signalling crap

Such a great interview! I love listening to QT. I already heard the interview but not this long one. So glad I listed ed again. In thinking about why he likes you guys it’s pretty obvious you are very intelligent professional people who love film and QT. You have good questions and you are respectful and professional. I also think being a visual artist who don’t like to have his picture taken (nor do I) I think he likes podcasts without the camera and the ability to go long and deep on ideas. Great job guys. Love your work.

I loved that they asked Quentin about the top gun sequel. That's exactly how I felt when I heard they were going ahead with the sequel. No matter how great the script is. I can't believe they made it without Tony..

@@thingshappen4062 I actually think he has evolved alot. Gilbert Grape was great, but in most occaisons his newer performances are stronger than the older. The Revenant, Django and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood were all amazing on Leo's part. Watching his older work I agree with your statement. It feels like he is playing himself in all of them. His new stuff is amazing.

Absolutely awesome to hear. One of the most unique artists of the century and probably still my favorite filmmaker. This film is up there for me in his top few, with many open meanings. I thought it was brilliantly done, and all characters were greatly utilized. The soundtrack was also so great that I’m having to buy that itself.
