I studied under Adrian at Chi College. I also got to play with his son, Jack and Bobby Wellins too. Great fucking times.

This is one of my favourite Bobby Wellins pieces. It's time the Dreams Are Free album was issued on CD. A double CD release with the live album Jubilation from the same 70s period would be great.

RIP, Bobby. Really, truly one of the greats. If you don't know him, check him out. Bobby was my tutor on Jazz Centre Society courses in '82 and '83 at Morley College. Pub lunch together EVERY day, both years - just the 2 of us. Some private lessons later. Last saw him at the 606, November 2014. He took the place apart in his own mellow way. Pins could be heard dropping through the air during a long, heart stopping ballad. Had a lovely long, long chat with him and his wife that night. "Still playing the Cigar Cutter, Neil?". He remembered... A lovely man and a beautiful player. World class, all the way. My heart is bible-black tonight. www.londonjazznews.com/…/rip-bobby-wellins-1936-2016
