Heres a story about my quest 1 that no one asked for. So, years back I had 2 vr headsets I gave one away and we bought another the quest 1, I was rlly happy and played all the games i had echo vr, rec room,vr chat,gorilla tag,beat saber and robo recall. When I found gtag(gorilla tag) I was obsessed,played it every day but I was playing my room and the problem is it's small but it didnt bother me as much,months go by and I happily play until i hit my left controller off the corner of my bed frame since my bed was near me. It didnt make as much damage so I kept playing but it started to lose connection so I got a bit mad and raged it against the bed frame and the ring snapped so I was now playing w one hand. More months go by I play w one hand the right controller I get rlly good at it in only one game tho (gtag) while I couldnt properly do stuff in other games.little did I know the same thing was going to happen to my right controller but it was actually on accident so that one snapped and couldnt play. I havent told any of my parents at the time and I had to deal w hand tracking the whole time and the 2 apps that allowed me to do so is vr chat and KZbin, it was REALLY really boring and then I couldnt message any of my friends on the headset bc it was discontinued on the quest 1 so I js quit all the games of Spring to Summer last year. Until this year I eventually told my dad and he said that we will actually get a new vr headset and controllers for my bday that is in 2 months so I'm genuinely excited and came here to see which ones better and wont be discontinued like the quest 1 I have :)

ive broken my first quest2 headset by sweating too much playing creed rise to glory and accidently hitting the controllers on walls or by my own hand, bought a new quest 2 and same things have happened to the controllers, i cant play any games but ones like boxing games because my left controller wants me to move backwards 24/7 and the amount of times I've cut myself open on the rings is crazy! quest 2 is a great headset if u have limited money but i just bought a quest 3 for the new batman game and alien isolation game and im so excited to have better graphics, performance and most importantly no more rings on the controller!

I own both. Quest 3 is better in most ways and overall its superior. But the Quest 2 has better controller tracking, longer battery life, and a more comfortable face gasket. Quest 2 also has brighter displays, and less binocular lense overlap effect. Quest 3 still blows it away with the pancake lenses, much better speakers, hd haptics, passthrough quality, and processor speed and graphics.

If you are going to invest time into it and use it, there's no question. It's comparable to consoles, you can buy an older gen console for casual, console specific titles and whatever current jazz is supported but you'll inevitably either buy or be wishing you had the latest if you invest enough time.

2:04 yep this is a problem for me, setting 2 is slight too close so i get a large bezel around the edges which is only ok in dark games like beatsaber, anything else like elevenVR or TheClimb is shit. The third setting is too wide however to the point where i actively have to try and remove the black line down the centre of my vision instead of passively like with your nose IRL. the thing that annoys me tho is the QUEST 1 had a slider?! I guess they stopped that and gave it a shit strap to try and match their retail price?

Actually, 4 months later, but still, there are no 3rd party headphone strap for Quest 3, which means the depth and immersion of dedicated over-ear headphones for Quest 2 has much better audio compared to Quest 3 without over the ear sound solution. This is main reason why i still dont upgrate. ( The screenshot of amazon @ 13:12 are all 3rd party products for Quest 2 only. ) I personally have KIWI design Headphone Head Strap and its amazing!

That's some good advice for people who don't have money to burn and who are new to vr and not sure if it's for them. The quest 2 is a great starting point at nearly a third of the price and you won't miss thaat much, besides pass through maybe. It can also hold you over while you wait it out for the quest 4 if you can since i'm sure the leap in specs, features and value will be a lot better Edit: I didn't realise the quest 3 had such a big fov bump. The lenses and increased fov alone might be worth choosing the quest 3 over the quest 2. Even as a first time headset. That's not even considering slightly higher resolution, pass through and now exclusives. I might've got the quest 3 sooner had i known about the fov bump which is rarely ever mentioned anywhere

Just got the quest 2 256GB in Like-New condition for 158$ which includes the taxes and fees off of Marcari, full set too. I'm happy with my decision even noticing the flaws it may have by reading the comments. I tried it at my brothers house and I managed to make it comfortable for myself so no issues arise whatsoever. I've never had a VR before and I'm genuinely excited to dive into the hype of it! I was gonna get the first meta quest because it's cheapest but people were saying it's very bad plus I don't have extra money for the quest 3. Standard is what I'll settle for and the quest 2 seems to be just that by what I've read online. Its good in all but its just the controllers that are bad you guys will all see once you play with it for quite a while instead play with the quest pro controllers once you take and good glance at them you can see the quest pro controllers have their own cameras on them but its 2 camera on each of them and since it has the cameras on the quest pro controllers they come their own charger which is a con but whats a pro is that the charger can charge both of your quest pro controllers and the meta quest 3 at the same time the quest 3 controllers are light if you hold them but theres one little bad thing about the headset is that the battery gets drained very fast due to the amount of cameras it has so its recommended to get your precious quest 3 with a little battery pack and another bad thing about the headset is that it doesn’t track your controllers or hands when you put them at the back which is also why you should get the meta quest pro controllers because as i said it has 2 cameras on each controller and its a 50%,50% between the quest 2 and 3 BUT! If you buy the quest 3 with all the gear you need its clearly a 100% you should pick the meta quest 3 but if you don’t have enough money you might as well wait for christmas. Now lets talk about the meta quest 2 which in my opinion the tracking and the battery life is pretty decent but theres 200+ more new games on the quest 3 then the quest 2 which is kinda a con for the quest 2 but it depends on the most games you play and your probably saying “why would i upgrade for the same games i usually play?” Well i think you should upgrade based on the graphics it has for the quest 3 it makes your game run like smooth butter and some pros for the quest 2 is that its battery life is pretty good without any battery packs on it its can go to 1 hour in a half to almost 2 hours which is kinda crazy! Now lets talk about their differences between these 2 headsets the quest 2 is way thicker then the quest 3 and the quest 3 is 40% slimer but according to meta they are the same size tho even when the quest 3 is 40% slimer, the quest 3 has more cameras then the quest 2 which makes the quest 3’s tracking way better but remember what i said due to the amount of batteries it has can lead to the battery life going down kinda quick and due to the quest 2 has less cameras leads it to having more battery life then the quest 3 so quest 2’s battery life is better then the quest 3’s battery life now compared to the camera color thingy of the quest 2 and 3 the quest 2’s cameras make your room black and white, now a huge difference is that the quest 3 cameras allow you to see the actual colors of your furniture or whatever you have in your house, who knows maybe the meta quest 6 might as well have cameras all over the headset lol, anyways as i was saying basically the cameras of the quest 2 compared to the quest 3 lets you see colors instead of black and white now lets talk about the price of theses two guys, the quest 2 is way cheaper then the quest 3 which makes it the most bestselling headset on the meta market and the quest 3’s price is… basically your life savings :/ UNLESS… you buy it cheaper for 500 dollars for 128GB but if you buy it for 640 dollars it upgrades your GB insanely up to 512 GB, so I recommend buying the quest 3 or get it for christmas. For a racing sim I'd recommend a Valve Index, or a Pimax 5k for better FOV (Assuming money isn't an issue). Oculus has been known to have issues with the wired connection.

Moving forward… We all know that the Quest 3 provides an improved visual experience, but is this limited to only new content that is updated and/or created for the Quest 3. I’ve had my quest 2 for a year and a half and it has served me well; First off getting in and out of games was fast somehow for me and the controller reactivity was high of its level, you can also use your actual hands to use the quest 2 which is the same for quest 3. The head strap is a meh for me but I still stick with it because it’s too much to buy a headstrap, On the other hand Quest 3 is good for its performance and outperforms the quest 2 yet the price is slightly concerning *Those are my thoughts so you can think differently of what I said*

Used market....... These are one of the many things in life that people tend to buy, use for a little while, and then stick on a shelf forever. The used market is flooded with quest 2s and quest 3s. You can swap out the face pad and strap or just clean them good if you're worried about cooties, lol. And as long as you're not buying a damaged item and/or have buyer protection you're good to go. I literally just snagged a barely used quest 3 with a case and the original box from OfferUp for $250.

I bought a Quest 3 as my first headset and then bought my little sisters a Quest 2. I honestly think first time users should get the Q3 and see the full color passthrough and smooth menus. Just from setting up the Q2 for my sisters, I got a ton of lag that made me want to return the device. My advice to first time buyers: Get the Q3 for a proper first VR experience. If you don’t like it then Meta has full refunds on returns.

Great breakdown. I got both at launch for less than half price as I saved up reward points from my credit card. I can definitively say that Quest 3 is a significant upgrade over the 2. It almost feels like the 2 is a prototype in comparison. I actually still have my Q2 and pop it on from time to time just to compare and it's like, how the hell did I daily drive this for 3 years, but ignorance in bliss. I'm not shitting on the Quest 2 as it was great, especially during the peak of the pandemic, but if you can afford the 3, just go with it. As mentioned, devs haven't even taken full advtanges of it yet since they have to make apps work on both for now. Super excited for the future of VR.

on the subject of controlers: My quest 2 will sometimes make me "walk left" when I am not putting any movement input on my control. I think people call it stick drift? Should I just get new controllers? Hell, will Quest 3 controllers be compatible with my quest 2?

What I took from this is, VR is still in it's fledgling stage, and it's better to suffer with some extra weight on your headset for a more standardized system, than it is to dishout more than double for slightly improved performance and features which are merely a stepping stone towards a whole new genre of VR standards that have yet to be set. I've owned the Quest 2 in the past, I bought it used, sold it used and even got a $12 profit in the process, because I literally got bored and never used it, so that is what I can expect if I were to buy it again, and as someone who only buys hardware used, i'd best spend my money on the bloated market of used quest 2's rather than suffer the equity drop of buying the newer model. Thanks for all the intimate details about Quest 3, I look forward to a day when VR is more integrated into our daily lives, but at this point in time, and maybe forever, the physics of battery energy storage and power consumption of high end hardware does not lend itself to being a very viable investment if you are someone who buys and sells everything they own for maximum equity retention.

So, new Batman VR is coming exclusive to Quest 3. This greatly fascinates me, as while it's clearly just a business decision, I wonder how they'll take full potential of the Quest 3 that even the Quest 2 isn't capable of, IF they do go that far. I'm also curious how the gameplay and general game design will work for a Standalone VR headset. Hopefully better than Arkham VR, since that was more to look pretty.

I just want to say something about the controllers on the the quest anytime you hit the tracking ring your drift would get worst but due to the quest 3 not having those it’s pretty hard not to get drift but it’s still possible to get it 10:07

I use my Quest 3 for all games but Beat Saber My Quest 2 is pretty much just Beat Saber as I get pain holding the controller the standard way and I play using the claw method and sadly Quest 3 controllers you cant hold it in the claw method due to the sensors on the interface of the controller so your hand blocks them...

@@Real_Numberz if you have a quest 2 currently at least I’d say it is not worth it because there are no exclusive games yet and the visual upgrades aren’t really enough to upgrade but if you want to get it it won’t be a bad purchase

Why was your ui different on the quest mine is the same as the quest 3 and it doesn't lag when i try to open it mid-game

i bought the quest 3 mainly for pc vr and i thought it would be alright with airlink but it blew my mind on how well it ran and how smooth it ran with 0 problems i say if you have a old headset and use pc vr more than standalone i say buy the quest 3 but if you play standalone quest 2 would be better but choose your poison

I've heard that on launch, the mic was worse than the Quest 2, but after the v62 patch, it got way better. Is it now better or the same as the Quest 2 mic?
