i'd recommend to switch the useless band strap for a bobovr or bobovr type. i couldn't wear quest 3 for more than 15 minutes without preasure pain and it being flimsy when moving around. now i sleep with it. and it comes with a 10k mAh battery attached to your strap.

Love that they chose to put the battery outside of the headset, it's the most abused part of a standalone headset (apart from the displays) and will surely break in 2-3 years even on normal use.

The battery does get abused! But is it any different than a phone? I’d rather have it inside and replace it in 2-3 years. Too bad it’s so difficult to replace a Quest battery 😢

With the PICO 4 ULTRA I won't have to worry or deal with any of that. The Quest 3 difficult replacement of the battery is the main reason why I returned mine. The lenses both had a band of distortion in the center of the lenses. Ordered the PICO 4 ULTRA from a Spanish company on sale for 495 USD with a %10 off coupon, brought the final price to $ 485 with free shipping.

I know this wont happen but the main reason I like the idea of Android XR is that maybe people can flash it onto a Quest 1 or 2 or even the Quest Go (remember that?) and have a functioning headset that is still somewhat supported.

It won't! I'd be surprised if it's anywhere near the price and Quest has been doing this for generations now. I'd be surprised if even with Samsung's experience if this will feel like a worthy upgrade for any Quest 3 owners. Hopefully it drives Meta to make the Quest 4 an even bigger upgrade though!

@@nolimityouth7238 Man, I love Valve (more-so in the past) but they are too flighty for me to take the risk of committing to their platform. Gabe and crew get bored or discouraged too easily. They abandon projects in the middle too often.

I feel Apples approach to having a separate battery pack is perfect because too many companies have built in batteries that are not user replaceable. Based on charging habits and age the batteries will hold less and less of a charge and eventually making the headset useless. With a separate battery pack we can easily replace it and even use a larger pack.

I don't mind headsets having a battery pack as long as it last at least 8 hours. I use one with my Quest so I can do extended play sessions and it lasts 10 hours easily.

I really really really want them to do the external battery and compute unit solution. So tired of these front heavy headsets. Imagine if you had a processing and battery puck, but the headset was the Bigscreen Beyond.. That would be so amazingly comfortable, and all we'd need is a thin cable leading to our belt. If we stick with everything in the headset, we've essentially reached the minimum size of headsets with the Quest 3. We could go a bit smaller, but then we're literally just stepping back in time performance wise. That would be insane. Instead we could take a massive step forward and go with pucks. That's modular and would be awesome for the consumer, you could swap the thing that's gotten old. I'd be fine with a headset with 110fov, oled or whatnot, 2800x2800 displays and eye tracking for a looooong time. If I could just upgrade the processing puck every two years or so for like 400 bucks, that would be glorious. Putting everything up front was such a bad idea from the start.

All I've been waiting for is for Google to enter the market because of the rest of the ecosystem. I'm not a gamer but im a huge VR/XR enthusiast so the entertainment and productivity aspects matter most to me. The one bad decision Meta has made re: VR is that its focused so much on getting the headsets right that they haven't used this time to build out an ecosystem that can effectively compete with Google and Apple once they've caught up on the hardware. All of my tech is Google tech. Integration is my top priority. Plus, the Play Store is going to be a game changer. Its going to be very very difficult for Meta to stay competitive once Google fully enters the market because of how much comes with an Android device. I think their best bet might be to allow Android XR to be installed on Meta headsets and glasses. Otherwise, its just gonna be hard the better Google and Apple headsets get.

That's interesting it works well for you. A lot of people complain about the comfort on that one with how front heavy it is. I definitely didn't love it when I tried one but I also have some neck issues that makes anything more front loaded tire my neck :(
