I've kept my Quest 1, but hadn't used it in a long time, it's shocking how uncomfortable it is compared to the Quest 2. So if you go from the Quest 1 to the 3, which should be a lot more comfortable than the 2, it will basically be like putting a pillow on your face.

I have put over 40 hours on Asgard's Wrath, So exited on the second one!

Asgard's Wrath became one of my favourite games of all time recently, and have put over 60 hours into it so far.. and still got a few minor sidequests to complete! So Asgard's Wrath 2 is definitely the highlight, especially as it looks like the weapons have proper collision and physics now. A real shame no PCVR version though.. I absolutely love the breathtaking visuals in the first game!

It's too bad though that they decided to roll with a basic LCD display. No quantum dot layer or local dimming to speak of. So get ready for light black levels(Maybe not as light as Q2's, but still), compared to the PSVR2's OLED display. I wish the FOV was larger too. Opting for Micro-OLED and going for 110d FOV would of just jacked up the price, I know. Maybe they should of released a Pro model for those willing to spend more for better specs. I'd rather just get the Apple VR and call it a day with it's 4K per eye, 120d FOV and micro-OLED display....But that sticker price. :O

Mike I have a question for you, I have that bobo vr m2 pro strap for my quest 2 with the two magnetic batteries and I just wanted to know if you were having issues with it. Every time I take off a battery to replace it with another, it'll go to my pass-through in the middles of my games and sometimes I can't turn off my pass-through after it happens

I lost patience waiting for Q3 and bought a Pico 4, and honestly after the reveal, I'm kind of glad I did, but then I have zero interest in MR and I mostly use a wireless headset for PCVR, only really using it standalone for watching movies and a couple of simple games that don't need any extra power.

That's a pretty good compromise of tech vs price. If the FOV and clarity is the same as the Pro, but it's lighter and has better stereo passthrough then it'll be a first day buy for sure.

I loved 7th Guest and 11th Hour! Yes, I'm old. Fantastic games for the time. Recently played through The Room VR and can see 7th Guest being a great addition to this genre of puzzle game in VR. I am also still rocking my Q1 and didn’t bite when they came out with Q2 or Pro. Glad I didn’t. Will probably pick up two Q3's, one for me and one for my wife.

Hi Mike..I'm still loving my Rift CV1 as much as i did when i first got it in 2017. Im gentle with it and don't let anyone else use it. Been holding out for this Q3 since the Q2 just was not comfortable to me and grsphics better on my Rift. Looking forward to cordless game play but for now Oculus Rift holding me down. Also hope my Apps library will be compatible with the Quest 3. I'll be listening out for you on whether or not yo pull the trigger but assume a Q3 will be worth it for me.

Dont get your hopes up on the power part, just "up to 2x" for the GPU means its likely packing the XR2+ which is a slight update of the XR2 on the Quest 2 meaning that AR games aside most Q3 games will run the same on Q2 since the extra GPU its probably for AR. Also the controllers don't look good, rumors says its a cost cut measure and the idea is to get you to buy the pro controllers.

I highly doubt they have a dedicated GPU for AR specifically, if so I really hope their ar technology is that good, however from what I've heard there actually is a big bump in performance with the gpu and also cpu which will also lead to more impressive stuff, but I don't know how reliable this source is soooo I guess we'll see

I'm still rocking a Rift-S. Seriously thought about upgrading to a Quest 2 but when I heard Quest 3 was on the horizon I decided to wait. My biggest concern is how good the PCVR streaming is. Will compression artifacts cause high-fidelity games like Subnautica, Lone Echo 2, Stormland, Asgard's Wrath, Half Life: Alyx, No Man's Sky, or modded Skyrim to look ugly?

Nope, had a Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop installed and i was amazed by how good it looks and how little the input lag is. Coming from playing sweaty e-sports titles and really noticing any increance in latency this was a big suprise. Quest 3 will probably be even better. The wireless experience on top of all of that is just amazing

First, the Rift S screen is garbage, so anything else is going to be a big upgrade. But PCVR streaming is quite good now, in particular if you're cabled - but if you have a good network setup, it works really well even wireless. And wireless is HUGE. My friend at the time ignored my advice and bought a Rift S instead of the Quest, and later he ended up buying a Quest 2 and was blown away at how well it worked when everything is self contained and you're not being forced to tether yourself to a PC.

I'm hoping it has wifi 7 and av1 decoding. Along with a faster chip being able to decode higher bitrates, it should significantly improve the wireless experience over Quest 2 which itself is actually quite good now.

It's only not the greatest if that's all you're thinking about while playing. I started on a rift s and immediately jumped on the quest 2 as soon as I heard virtual desktop was officially supported, because screw that damn cable and all forms of cable management. I'll say far away things don't look the greatest, but still miles better than being screwed over by SDE

Yeah, I agree about the passthrough and AR. It's simultaneously the tech I'm most excited about, but also what I really need to see more of if they want me to buy a Quest 3. Meta was pretty good about cross-gen support for most of the Quest 2's life cycle. All the games they announced yesterday are still coming to the Quest 2 and Pro over the next year. I might consider skipping the Quest 3 entirely if I don't feel like the performance/form factor improvements are quite worth it right now and if I can still play new releases up until the last year or so of the Quest 3's life cycle. But if the passthrough opens the door for some cool AR functionality that seems like something I could use or enjoy, then yeah, I might be tempted to pick up the Quest 3 day one. Otherwise, Quest 4 might be a more meaningful upgrade for Quest 2 owners, just as the Quest 3 will be for all those Quest 1 holdouts. With pretty short Quest life cycles so far, upgrading every second generation seems more practical for most people, unless you're just really want the latest and greatest.

No, they look similar but different. Pro uses cameras on the controllers for self tracking. Q3 uses IR LEDs like Q2 but without the tracking ring []-)

Vr influencers spreaded it not developers or facebook themself. All vr channel mention it while i remember an article about asgard's wrath 2. So i was confused people years into vr and even facebook ambassadors got it wrong.

I wish they'd release a Q3 Pro model along side it with a better display. Whether it's Micro-OLED or an LCD or LED using a quantum dot layer/local dimming to achieve deep inky blacks and great colour. Plus a larger FOV, 110d would be good factoring in the 2064x2208 resolution. Anyways, Apple VR seems more fitting for what I'm looking for and it costs $2,500 more than a Q3. :P 120d FOV, 4K per eye, Micro-OLED display. That thing is going to have jaw dropping augmented reality.

I am ok with them not having any mixed reality stuff like with most innovations is going come from the indie side but at least now they have much better tools for it. just like with the games it was mostly the same type of tech demo games until people started porting older flat games and so now we are getting full fledge creations and ports of classics. i am wary of the controllers hopefully the get the tracking good enough for i am guessing their hand tracking software watching the end of your arms or have the 2 or pro controllers compatible
