Garret was the first character I ever saw as a child with a disability, and I honestly think that's amazing. I think children would benefit if more of their movies incorporated strong characters with disabilities.

i dont argue that this movie is good.. sadly the only thing the came from it that was so memorable.. it shined the movie the song was written for... the prayer... the song was written for the this movie as a solo sung by celine dion and then andrea bocelli sang it for end credits.. later when they turned it into a duet.. suddenly everyone and their mother was singing it

I love this song from the old WB movie of Camelot in 1998. That is inspiring. Garrett may be blind, but he has good hearing to know who the voices come from and where things are, then stands his grounds to fight in self-defense, with the help of his faithful silver winged falcon Ayden. He once lived in Camelot when he was younger until he got blinded during the fire in the stables and went to live alone in the Forbidden Forest. At the end of the battle against the evil Ruber, the power of Excalibur healed Garrett's blindness and gave him back his sight. I know the feeling. Trying to fit in with the world and have friends who would understand our disabilities. I know because I have autism. I have always been this way ever since I was very small and get shy with strangers I meet. But you must understand - Just because I'm autistic doesn't mean I'm less intelligent. I have my own way, but something logical. I prefer the things I love; fantasy, adventure, magic, and fun. I ride horses and ponies, draw and paint with imagination and write stories. I enjoy fairy tales, myths, fables, ancient history, fantasy legends, and folklore. And most of all I never gave believing in magic with all my heart because I refuse to grow up and forget the precious things of my childhood. Like my late hero Walt Disney, my one and only wish is to keep the magic alive forever.

I mean to be fair she DID follow him really deep into the Forbidden Forest and barely survived the trip just trying to keep up with him. So him being the genuinely nice guy that he is (not THAT kind shush) he couldn't let Kaley go on her way alone with no map, no food, no water and no experience of how to survive in that place in good conscience. He's not like Ruber who would have left her to die if he didn't have need of her. Kaley would not have lasted 2 minutes on her own in the Forbidden Forest without Garretts help and guidance. Let alone make it all the way through to Camelot. He was a real OG.

As much as I adore Steve Perry and love his *version* of this song with the magnificent orchestral backing, I have to say that I still love this original version more. Brian White's vocals are equally as wonderful and equally as expressive. I also greatly prefer the flow which this arrangement better allows for, culminating in its momentous ending of the three strong signature lines "All by myself, I stand alone" which build in such fury and most satisfying pent up release of emotion - finality and freedom. It is very satisfying and apt. The song *needs* this, and the Steve Perry version is lacking in this. Gorgeous, spirit soaring song though.

I know the sound of each rock and stone I embrace what others fear You are not to roam in this forgotten place Just the likes of me are welcome here. Everything breathes And I know each breathe is more than enough for this man. Like every tree, stands on its own Reaching for the sky I stand alone. I share my world with no one else All by myself I stand alone. Deep in the darkness, my heart still sees Everything that I'd ever need. High desire I'll go everywhere, There's no need for sympathy. Everything breathes and I know each breathe, In my world there's no compromise. Like every tree stands on its own, ohh Reaching for the sky I stand alone. I share my world with no one else, All by myself Still, I will remember Still, I'll run with you. And when it's time for you go, take me in your arms. Like every tree stands on its own, Reaching for the sky I stand alone. I share my world with no one else All by myself I stand alone. All by myself I stand alone...

Even if the movie is derivative of several Disney films the music is impressive. Had Warner Animation learned its own niche in the 90s it would have been a worthy competitor to Disney Feature Animation. The opportunity came with "Cats Don't Dance", but Warner had to be such assholes and kill it at the box office. Because, "we didn't want Ted's film to be our first box office success."
