I’ve heard the Sierra intro jingle thousands of times in different audio formats played through different audio hardware - this is the best version I’ve heard so far.

Yes, I always thought it sounded good on this synth.

I grew up with the OPL3 version, yet even through that nostalgic bias, plenty of these tracks work better for me on this chip (especially Leshy). Appreciate all the extra effort with the screenshots; you’re doing a great service to archiving!

This synth is definitely on the more entry level side compared to Roland or Yamaha equivalents, but it was still revelatory the first time I heard it as a kid. I remember King’s Quest VI and Quest for Glory III in particular because I had previously played those with OPL2 using Sound Blaster on our 486. Being able to hear realistic sounding instruments in the soundtrack, like drums and cymbals, was a shocking experience. I’m also glad you appreciate the screenshots because that was one of the more involved parts of the process.

Sierra never upgraded their instrument patches to take advantage of any opl3 waveforms but they did support more channels with later drivers I believe, but everything still played in mono.

@@ratix98 I’ve always been curious about the Sound Blaster Pro driver that came with later games. So it doesn’t even add stereo capability, just more polyphony?
