question gave me Headache regarding NCI calculation if NCI is measured at Fair value it should have been mentioned but there is no details given nor there is no info regarding the NCI calculation

From the date Sterling Co. acquired 40% of the ordinary shares of Berthold Co (Associate) to the time the extra 35% was acquired the time frame is not 8 months but rather 1 year 8 months. So to put it into context, Berthold Co was an associate of Sterling Co for 1 year 8 months and it was a subsidiary for 4 months. Question is, are we only accounting for the year 20x9?

hes saying its an associate for the first 8 months because in the year ended 31 March 20x9, it became a sub at 1 dec 20x8 which is 4 months from the year end. if its only been a sub for 4 months then the remaining 8 months of the year it was an associate. Hope that makes sense
