I am actually a conservative however I do believe that if you find love and the person is good to you and you will get to them that is all that matters. It is so hard to find somebody these days that supports you and is there for you and all the ways you need them to be so if you're able to find that even with your same sex I say go for it. You can't choose who you fall in love with. That is just a natural thing if you truly love the person it's just not a choice. Prayers for both you ladies. I'm sorry that your parents can't seem to grasp that you have a beautiful person that cares for you so much and I hope that they'll open their eyes for you and see that there's so much more to life than being critical.

New sub!! I’m a straight female and LOVE your energy! Both of you! I grew up with a politically conservative father who was also conservative (towards me) regarding dating out of my race, until he started dating someone outside his race. Never again has he had an issue with who I date. My mother is very liberal in all aspects and wouldn’t approve of anyone I dated for any reason, man, woman, rock etc. only now that I’m getting married does she approve (and I’m almost 40)! With so many other things going on in the world, why people STILL care which sex, color or creed another person loves, baffles me to no end. While I consider myself conservative regarding who I vote for, my beliefs in regards to who should be able to date, what anyone should be able to do with their own bodies (abortion, vaccines, etc etc) remains extremely liberal. Quite frankly, because I don’t care what anyone else does! Do what makes you happy! When I first started dating in my teens, I had a black boyfriend and would get the most disgusting looks from both white AND black people. While I believe the view has changed as times have gone on, and it’s become way more accepted, I think I also became blind to it and don’t pay attention anymore. Growing up in Southern California, it’s a total mixing pot of all kinds of people and everyone (for the most part) has to get along with everyone BECAUSE there are so many types Of people. I am very thankful for growing up there. Now that I’m getting married to a southern boy, I’ve moved to the south and haven’t noticed too much of a difference although my husband to be says differently (he’s black, I’m white). It just seems so ignorant and honestly, trivial, to be concerned with who someone else is a attracted to or loves when we have TONS of ACTUAL PROBLEMS in this country that need to be dealt with. Wish the two of you all the happiness and love forever!!
