I think the Camino Frances you can almost do without a water container of any type drinking directly from the fountains and at bars / cafes. Almost. I'd still bring a water bottle. Some of the fountain pools were a little stagnant, dirty with algae -- I wouldn't drink from those but usually there was a tap or another flowing source into the pool which was fine. I never had any issues. A water filter like the Katadyn BeFree or Sawyer Squeeze would eliminate these concerns and allow you to drink from wider sources such as streams etc. But they cost money, weigh something and take up space. A bit overkill really.

I agree that a probiotic is a good idea. I drank only potable water, yet my stomach was upset quite regularly and the water is the only thing I can think of that may have upset it. I went to the farmacia and they were so helpful and gave me something I could take daily which helped. I’m not even sure what us was?! Lol. Congratulations on your new adorable pup and your upcoming nuptials! 🎉🎉
