Thank you for addressing these question! I minored in anthropology and majored in biology at UCLA and even though I never believed in evolution of man because of my Christian upbringing, I never knew how to explain why Neanderthals and other hominids existed.. In fact, my daughter’s homework assignment was on evolution of man and I let her know that it is a false claim but didn’t know how to back up my argument..So I typed in “ Neanderthals and God” and found your channel. God bless you for using science, one of the tool unbelievers use to deny God, to clarify Gods plan and creation.

Your mention of God sitting back and admiring his handiwork during different stages of creation, reminds me of myself, when doing a home remodeling type of project. Along the way, at various stages of completion, I’ll often sit back and admire my progress, and especially when completed. I don’t have any other artistic ability, so that’s my one chance to admire my handiwork. I wondered why I do that, but I guess its part of being an Image Bearer.

Love your observation that God seems to be creative as an artist rather than like an engineer. I think that we get a hint of this in Ps 104. This is particularly implied with the reference to the myriad of sea life both big and small. As I look at life both on the macro and micro level. As an old Christian biologist I revel more and more each day with the beauty and complexity of His creation. I could go on and on concerning His creative action be much like the activity of an artist. Thank you for this reference!

Albert Perry's DNA is from a human 350,000 thousand years ago.Also, who said homo ergasta was not human? Who said their their thoughts, and culture , and life were animals? We do not know if they had the image of God? You did not mention Homo Ergasta. He thrived for over one million years. Civilations come and go. Maybe people also. You cannot say that they were not people. In Genesis God created man twice.
@bobblacka9182 жыл бұрын
I think you absolutely nailed it when you explain that hominids were around prior to the creation of Adam. When you read the Genesis story carefully, it does not say Adam was the first human being on earth. It actually says Adam was the first man made in the image of God. Big difference there. When you read the creation story in that context, everything makes perfect sense. When Cain was banished from the Garden of Eden, he says: "Anyone who finds me will kill me!” Obviously Cain knew there were other man-like creatures on the earth at that time and they were a threat to his safety. If someone reads Genesis 4 : 14 under the assumption that only three humans existed on the earth when he was banished, the passage makes no logical sense. On another note, I love the explanation that God is more like an artist than an engineer. You could use that reasoning to show why God's creations are so full of beauty. Engineers tend to be more concerned with functionality than with beauty. God is concerned with both.

Ok im a believer . what I find confusing is that Neanderthals have bred with Humans ? If they weren't fully human how could they?
@davidtompkins50005 жыл бұрын
I have the same issue and it seems more study is needed. If they interbred with us then they must be human, descended from Adam. Meaning there was something more to Adam's genome than what we have to include Neanderthal and likely even Denisovans. But if it is clear that their cognitive development was substantially and clearly "animalistic" and not human then they were not human. RTB says not human, naturalistic science says human (if interbred) and even young earth says human. Really puzzling for me currently.
@salv1able5 жыл бұрын
@@davidtompkins5000 yes it is puzzling :(..I'm beginning to think maybe God may of used the evolution process. They are also saying maybe they didn't interbreed with human s but descended from a common ancestor. Well that's Evolution. Its hard cos I believe in Literal Genesis..

From a biblical perspective earth has undergone two huge changes in a very short period of time. The first is the fall. The consequences of this are extremely far reaching. This is where entropy was introduced to creation. I believe that this is also what negates the old/new earth argument. We have no way to observe or organize events on earth that happened prior to our linear concept of time. These events could have been a single instant then but appear to us to have taken millions of years. We can’t truly know because our perception of time shackles us to a reality that didn’t then exist. Based on this, we have to accept that all of creation existed together for a period and that the great extinctions didn’t happen until after the fall. Nothing died before sin. The second major change was the perversion of life on earth that is documented in Genesis 6 and the following destruction of it that is given in the account of Noah and the great flood. The big question for me is “how many fossils are records of Gods creation and how many are a record of the perversion that God destroyed?” The idea that the creation of humanity and earth, and the creation of the heavens and angels were simultaneous is one that also has great ramifications. Think for a minute that Eve spoke with Lucifer without fear and believed what he said. All of these fundamental questions about creation and our origins relate directly to these two major events in biblical history.

Few points would like to mention based on recent findings: 1. Modern human being not only co existed with hominids, they have regularly mated with each other. 2. The modern human being we see today is actually a product of those matings and survival of the fittest so in that scenario how will you explain Adam and Eve ? 4. You have mentioned that the hominids are more like gorilla or chimps but there is no proof to believe that they lack human cognitive abilities 5. Their brain structure is similar to human rather than gorillas or chimps 5. Now lets accept that indeed Adam and Eve created the whole human species today, but according to bible the earth is rather new as the human population, so how long it will take for two individual to populate the earth? Leave alone the spiritual evolution of human , how long it will take to only populate the whole earth ? (Keeping in mind God has destroyed the population multiple times according to bible) ? As your last point was reason to believe, indeed that is much easier to do rather than digging out proofs for evolution. However the difference is you can always question scientific facts based on observations or expectations. Like scientists used to think atom is indivisible but when proof came that no atom can be broken every scientist accepted it gladly. But you can’t question faith !! And I guess human became human today because they can question and look for answers, what are those dots on the sky and not merely believing those are tiny bulb god put for us .

The two areas that keep me from getting on board with fully with RtB is their view on Neanderthal, and Denisovans as animals not people (and possibly Heidelbergensis and to a far less extent Erectus). I just do not believe that God would make animals so similar to us, even to the point of us living alongside them, caring for them, and them for us, likely falling in love, and interbreeding with them. It makes no sense. And the second thing is their view on the flood. Even if you're going to interpret Genesis as not teaching a single world wide flood, that had waters above the tops of the highest mountains, it still seems clear to me that the flood was far greater than a single regional flood. And that it destroyed all life on earth outside of the Ark. I'm currently hypothesizing on different interpretations that could be viewed as a middle ground, incorporating sea level rise, tsunamis, and ice-damn mega-floods along with more common torrential down pours, and it seems to me that you could easily come up with something that sure does look like a world wide flood event, that matches with what we see in the geological record, and at least echoes the traditional understanding of the flood account, as held by most Christians and Jews throughout the ages. Something that a single regional flood just fails to do, imo.

Hi Great watching this from Bergen, Norway. As neanderthals and humans overlapped, they also seems to have interbred as neanderthal-specific genes to a certain extent also are found in human genome. Can this be considered a creator intended functionality or an evolutionary impact/result?

The earth appears to have been “cooked” over a period of time in order for a rich medley of materials and creatures to exist for mankind’s use. If you just open your eyes, you can’t help but notice how useful everything is for us, and there is no physical reason this should be so anywhere in the universe, least of all on a planet where life just happened to arise “by accident”. If you doubt me, take a hard look at all other heavenly bodies out there.
