Interesting! I have a similar style dyed braid of fiber that I have been afraid of spinning for the exact same reason - afraid of creating “mud”! - but I thought it would be a lot of trouble to strip it down like this. Looks easier than I thought, and your yarn turned out beautifully. Thanks for sharing your technique with us!
