not a whole lot to be questioning imo fun little mod and nicely executed! for me, though, wanting to add more frets would be the perfect excuse to simply build *another* guitar 😋

Oh don't you fret, there are definitely more in the works. 😉 Where's my x-type, BTW?

Very cool. You got me thinking, making a fret extension “pickup” might be a big money making tool. Like having it go over the neck slot of a standard strat so we could have a 24 fret mod.

Hahaaa! Oh snap, I actually misinterpreted your comment at first. Yeah, that's a really funny idea! But if you did that, why stop at 24? ...commence Mad Scientist mode! Hahahaa!

@@ShawnHeath Oh yes, indeed. I said 24 cause 22 fret guitars really bug me but more would be better.

Nice fix 👍

I noticed there's a space with a bit of pointless plastic between the SGs neck and neck pickup. Would be simple to add 2 frets. Idk why they don't come stock with 24.

It makes a 5 octave range using the 5ths tuning

how much space is needed on the board after the last fret? i really really want/need a 22nd fret on a 21-fretted strat, I have one with 22, so side by side, the 22nd fret does fit the current spacing, but there would be only a few mm after it.

Thanks for your question! You want enough to provide a seating surface for the fret wire. So it depends on which wire you're using, half of its width, plus a little bit of wood as a buffer. It sounds like you would have just enough.

holy shit yo! that's a lot of work to for 2 extra frets! but it goes to show with a lot of know how and ingenuity you can pretty much make anything!
