I had a couple people ask questions about the audio in my video's. I use several different things for different video's but for most video's now I am using the built in music gen in pinnacle studio 17. I use this really due to the ease of use, just pick something and drop it in. I still use Abelton live for some things, its getting more rare though for video production. I do use Abelton and the APC 40 for music that I do not related to any of these model railroad video's. I play the guitar and much of the audio equipment is used for that primarily. I like to kick up Abelton sometimes though to do some audio for video's, like I say though, for the model railroad video's just seems easy to use the Pinnacle music stuff.

Love your videos, you're like the Bob Ross of model building, so calm and easy to listen to. I'd love to see a video like this one where you show your workbench set up. I'm just starting out and haven't found a comfortable place to work yet. Thanks for sharing your hobby with us!

+Scott Gibson Hey, thanks for leaving feedback, you know, I have a cousin named Scott Gibson, thought you might be him! You have a brother? :) I really do need to get up another video, its been a while and many have been hounding me for months to do just that, a new video. This looks like something I might be able to put together if I can get my area cleaned up here. Many of these video's have been shot at different locations, I have moved several times over the past few years. I am in Dallas now though and just about have my room set up. I think I have some pictures on my FB page if you want to dig through that stuff facebook.com/modelerman.mike Thanks again for writing and If I can get to this video, I will sure put it together for you.

Awesome! I don't know of any Gibson's from my clan down in Texas, but chances are there's a cross in the line somewhere back in history. Looking forward to your video. I've been doing some card stock models, and getting pretty cool results.

+Scott Gibson, would like to see some of that stuff, do you have a youtube channel?

Don't have a KZbin channel, I'm pretty much starting from zero, learning and absorbing as much knowledge as I can. I've made a couple really sweet looking card stock models, and think with my background in graphic design I might even be able to design some from scratch. Maybe I can shoot a few photos of the model and post them somewhere. :)

Thanks for sharing. I loved the locomotive transition in your DPM building video. I just found your channel. I started my channel R & R Rail Service HO Model Railroading a couple months ago. I am looking to improve my videos with the small space I have to work and build my pieces for my layout.

Modeler Man Mike- you are over the top my friend! Wow, I don't even dream of getting to your level of production. On another note- I have been using the Xbox for a while now to watch my KZbin subscriptions. Searching isn't easy, but if you configure your account settings properly its easy to watch your subscriptions on the big screen.
@ModelerManMike
@ModelerManMike 10 жыл бұрын
is there any possible way to sync the subs from the pc together with the xbox? I am of course using my KZbin account on the xbox, but it doesnt seem to capture my subs from the computer. Are they different? Can you elaborate more on better ways to watch subscriptions? I have my xbox 360 subscriptions but only see my subs come up in "what to watch".
@TubeDude2013
@TubeDude2013 10 жыл бұрын
Mike, you can definitely see your subscriptions. You need to download the KZbin App to the Xbox. After you get it installed, Sign into the App, and it will take you through a wizard that synchs your Xbox to your PC with an activation code. One the PC and Xbox accounts are synchronized, you brows to the "View All" tile on the Xbox App. You can see your subscriptions in there.

WOW! just joined up at KZbin Model Railroaders and checking out this video as recommended. You have a very nice production set up there! Afraid I am some long way behind! I have only recently upgraded to Windows 7 and a new PC, but migrated my old Pinnacle Studio 12.1 over and make all my videos with that. I use Goldwave for audio. Interested to see you using Sony Handi cams! I have one but it's not HD, great functions but not great video and I never found it worked well with artificial light, even daylight balanced. I have subscribed and will have to watch more of your work!

Just a note, with the newest version of Pinnacle Studio (v17/v18) it has really gotten much better. I complain a bit about this software in this video, however, big changes have really made this software trouble free.

James! Thanks for stopping by! I can tell you that they take a bit of time to put together. I also enjoy this as well, another hobby along with photagraphy. The video cam's made a big difference, just moving from 720p to 1080 on the builds was a serious improvement, the close ups make it so much fun! James, If you enjoy my video's, I am gonna be watching for that shameless plug! :)

Mike I see down below you're wondering what is used for driver perspective camera views. I've got one of those Signet micro DV cams. Its 55mm high 20mm wide and 28mm deep.It clips on the front of a gondola.Only down side it doesn't have screen. 1.3 megapixal, 30 fps for 720 x 480 output.Its manual and sound activated. Low light and fast speed recording It recharges in a USB socket and gives two hours recording time Supports AVI It takes a micro SD card and can support up 8GB Mine was Aust $39 when I got it. You can get cheaper on the bay now and can get HD as well.Different brands but same cam. N scale guys use pen type spy cam or key ring cam and pull em apart so they fit in tunnels etc Hope this helps Les

Hey, this sounds very interesting, you wouldnt happen to have a video on this would you? Are they coming out with a 1080 version maybe? I see so many of these video's on KZbin now, honestly, I skip through them, this perspective really doesnt give me a good idea of the layout. Would be cool to mix these views into a walk around, something like art does. Cant a train going through a section of the layout he is viewing would be neat. Thanks for the comments! Maybe this will help a few of these guys get their on board thing happenin'

very nice Mike. As a novice to this I was wondering what you were using. I'll be starting small but hopefully like my modelling it will improve with time. My son has agreed to edit for me so we'll see how that goes. I have a feeling that our initial software will be Windows Movie Maker. I'm going to have to get a cam too. I'm wondering if it's worth it to invest more up front on that or to see how it goes before jumping in whole hog.

Its just a hobby Okcuse, I enjoy photography and video production. I used to do some video for a few company's, instructional video's and promotional video's they would put on DVD. Its all fun for me though, I also try to play the guitar and piano. I have a lot of hobby's but all this kinda ties into the model railroad stuff pretty nicely! Thanks for the comments Okcuse!

Eric! Man, so sorry, this was a 1 day shoot, 1 day produce, rushed job here. I totally didnt see that! I did comment about this in the info on the video though, double mention now! BAM! :) 17 is really nice but does not get along with my Vista. Many of the features of the software just dont work. I am thinking of going to windows 8 and see if this helps, I have used Pinnacle since like v7. I have used several Avid products including Liquid but always seem to gravitate back to Pinnacle. Camtasia really works nice to but with a lot less features.@16 they really changed up the user interface it looks alot different, same stuff though really. It handles the AVCHD 1080 files decently as well.

ModelerManMike Not a big deal, I just like to find things like that... Just hunting for eggs. I used to use Liquid for years. But studio started to catch up and had the added BluRay functions. Not sure why but just have not liked the last versions of studio. I'm glad to see I'm not the only person with a Hand full of cameras. I have three cameras that I use now and could add two more if need be. Still like my HDR-CX260 the best. I run a Sony mic of my camera for most video shots and then I just got a Blue Yeti for Voice overs. I like the sound of my off camera Sony mic ECM-MSD1, But for Voice overs when hooked into the PC it sounds like trash. Now I have 3 voice levels. Camera Mic, SONY off Camera Mic and the Blue Yeti. Type at you later. DEans B-Day Party is today. He hit the 2 mark yesterday.

***** I really liked liquid, same issues to, I still have the break out box from that, not sure why. Not to try a jones keep up here but, I have several more cams, I only have used the ones posted here. All this stuff just piles up, after a couple of years, its out of date! wish there was something to do with it. The Sony CX260 is a nice cam, and, if you remember I asked you what cam that was you were using! lol! That helped me decide on the 2 Sony "260" I have. Hey, have a wonderful b-day party!

Thats a real good question, surely there are others out there wondering the same thing. I am seeing a lot of these "from the train perspective". I guess the first question would be scale, if it G scale, just about anything would work! :) HO though, I think one of these little sony's would ride on there wouldnt it? I dont personally do that. Eric does I know the link there IMRROcom, might ask him what he is using? would be cool to come and answer this thread to for others. I myself would like to know what kind of rig these people are using.

Mike I'll take a couple photos of it. I dont have a video cam as such.The last Vid we did was with my little mates phone and is very shakey even with you tubes shake adjust. In this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqiwdnaqa8iga7M just after the start I put the cam track side to get that rush as it went past . when you use these cams you learn about speed of the train real quick. Don't laugh but I get motion sickness if I watch on full screen as its going round the helixes
