The S2000 is basically a sportbike on 4 wheels. My friends who have had one kept it for a few years and then sold it once they got it out of their system.

We were cross-shopping 3 row SUVs last year and landed on the Nissan Pathfinder. Really well equipped for the money and it comes with a basic 3.5L V6 and a ZF 9 speed transmission and you're not waiting for a year to get one. Hoping that it's going to last us for 10+ years until the kids are off on their own.

Hi Kids! I have always loved the looks of the S2000, but never driven one. Still recovering from “The Big C” & had to sell my H-D. Needed something else…Found a 23 yr old MX5 in Stratford ON, with 111,000 km on the clock. Black & tan 6-speed. I’m the 3rd owner. Very nice condition & fun to row my own gears. Still have your shows as tops on my list every week. Andrea needs a raise Zack!

The 2024 GMC Acadia would be a contender for the Honda Pilot / Passport if it had a second row 40/20/40 bench seating and the 2.7 Turbo Engine found in the GMC Canyon and Chevy Colorado pickup trucks. I believe Engineers at GM could reduce build complexity, engines and parts inventories and for these four models. The new Acadia could be a real sales leader with these two changes. These vehicles do not need paddle shifters and hence would reduce manufacturing costs and complexity. I hope someone a GM is listening and watching Andrea and Zack for their real world insight into the Automotive Industry. Great Show!

Dear Andrea and Zach. I watch all of your videos because I think you two are the best. You talk about things that pertain to the everyday driver that other reviewers rarely talk about. You review all models, not just the most expensive ones that most of us can’t afford. I especially love your Questions, Coffee and Cars videos. They are funny and informative. My mother passed away last night. I have been sad all day. You and your videos raised my spirits and helped me forget my sadness if just for a little while. It’s not just your reviews that make you so special but also how real and caring you seem to be and that makes me feel comforted. I hope you can understand where I am coming from. Thank you and keep doing what you do so well.

Honda is really behind the game with infotainment and no hybrid offering. Hopefully when they finally debut a hybrid option they will addres the tiny infotainment screen too! Having owned several GM and Hondas I would absolutely wait as long as possible before purchasing a GM. I would never buy a first year Chevrolet anything. It will spend more time in the shop than you will drive it. Love your channel! Keep up the amazing reviews and discussion!!!

Canada, specifically Ontario, have invested billions in new EV battery factories. That could be one solution. Ontario is also actively establishing mines & road infrastructure within the northern part of the province for the actual raw materials required, lessening any need to deal with China.

I tried the Forester with the CVT and was pleasantly surprised with how fell it worked and it was a complete non-issue for me. However, it had significant other issues that I didn't like, including the overly aggressive throttle mapping (to compensate for the lack of power), the loose steering, poor body control and uncomfortable seats. In summary, the CVT is the least of the issues with Subarus.

I disagree on the PHEV question. Due to the rebates in Canada in many places the PHEV model end up being roughly the same price as the regular hybrids which makes it a no brainer to get the PHEV since you get a beefier motor and it will run in hybrid mode most of the time, be slightly less efficient than the hybrid but still way better than gas and then anytime you have access to free or cheap charging you can top up and do a bunch of running at low cost. I agree if you are paying the price difference, but when you can force other people to pay it for you then it makes sense.

I don’t like what it looks like (unbalanced shape), I hate it’s high rev engine (nothing on low end) l, too small (my CRX was huge, by comparison) and most people who praise it… haven’t even sat in one! I don’t get it. It is one of the most overrated cars ever (in my opinion). Would I take one over a Del Sol? Without sounding like a hypocrite?… Probably. But only to flip it - sell it to some willingly S2000 fanboy who’d gladly overpay for one. Thanks for the video. Happy Canada Day!

The Traverse ( the Generations from the past 12+ years ) has suffered from issues that clearly “ didn’t get the bugs sorted out “ at each 1st year of each iteration. They all have and continued to have front strut and transmission issues as well as a host of other far to common in the numbers sold problems. I would give this “ new “ version at least 2 or 3 years to see if its got past issues resolved.

Honestly, I can say this with a clear mind that Subaru really doesn’t even care about selling a hybrid because they are five years late to the game. So many other companies ramping up hybrid models.

I do not know where these Tesla's are being sold. How much Chinese content is acceptable ? I would imagine it would be difficult to have all north American content like things like audio or other equipment. So many of our products are made in China and it would be difficult to have full North American Content in all the cars.

17:32. That’s nonsense. I had an AP1 S2000 and it had more than enough torque for driving around town. The current ND2 Miata has 181HP and 151TQ. The Honda S2000 had 240hp and 153TQ 25 years ago. Yes the S2000 weighed more but it had more torque than the Miata until 2019! The 2018 Miata had a miserable 155HP and 148TQ. BTW, an S2000 is still faster to 60 mph than a 2025 Miata.

Here’s my take on charging issues for EV’s and PHEV’s when you don’t have a charger at home: Is it really necessary to be able to charge at home? It certainly can be convenient but the key is to treat your EV like a gas car. When you need gas, you drive to a gas station to fill up. If you have an EV, you drive to a charge station to charge up. The need for charging an EV at home is just a convenience but it’s not required. You don’t need to “top off” or keep it plugged in to something while at home. There are two different “psychologies” at work here. No one worries about driving home in a gas car with, say, a 1/4 tank. You just simply get it filled the next day. Why can’t we think of it in that same way for an EV? Do you need to have a 100% battery every time you drive it home at the end of the day? You don’t. The only difference between the two is that charging an EV at a public station will take longer than filling a regular car with gas. I’ll bet you anything that if EVs removed the “percentage of remaining charge” number from EVs and just had a normal ‘E to F’ gauge, like in regular cars, people wouldn’t have potential range anxiety issues and wouldn’t simply drive to a charge station when needed. But, there are many cars that will have a “miles remaining’ message (or even number of miles possible based on the amount of fuel in your tank) that brings the focus on how far you think you could drive before refilling it. This “number” just like on EV’s, I believe, is the reason people have range anxiety. So if someone lives in an apartment, or a home without a plug-in station, and you want an EV, just buy it! Trust me, it’s ok if you drive home after a few days and see that you have, say, 40% charge remaining. Just get it charged up at a station when you have the chance. People don’t top off their regular cars with gas before coming home everyday so EV owners don’t really have to do that either.
@billurban1581
@billurban1581 2 күн бұрын
Nice Rant, but . . . The time it takes to fill a gas tank as opposed to a battery makes ALL, repeat ALL, the difference. My PHEV, when “full,” has a 500 to 600 mile range. I can typically go six or seven weeks before visiting a gas station. I don’t need 240V in the garage, just a normal outlet. My engine, trans, and related components will have 30,000 miles when my odometer says 100,000 (my electric motor drives the rear axle, independent of the ICE drivetrain). Lifetime mpg, 103. My last ICE only auto, 29.7. EV guy says “ why carry around a redundant engine and transmission?” I answer “same reason you carry a 300 mile battery when your average trip is 10 to 35 miles.”
@housepianist
@housepianist 2 күн бұрын
@@billurban1581 it wasn’t a rant. Just wanted to get my points out. And I did state that the difference between the gas fill and ev fill is the time involved in doing both. Of course there’s an advantage in the short amount of time needed to fill a gas tank as compared to fully charging a battery. My point was to say that apartment dwellers or living in a charger-less home should not be a deterrent to buying an ev if that’s what you want to drive. I wasn’t bringing up the issue about mileage or transmissions or mileage as you did because this episode wasn’t focused on that.
@housepianist
@housepianist 2 күн бұрын
@Wendisue ok well, as I stated to the first commenter, my points did not focus on all these extraneous issues between ICE and EV functionalities. The specific segment in this episode was dealing with EVs and apartment-dwellers. That’s it. It wasn’t about the economics of EVs and the pros and cons of long-term ownership. I’m not disagreeing with your assessments but regardless of what you feel about EVs, I’m just saying that if someone wants to buy one, the type of dwelling shouldn’t play a factor if you want to buy one. All other related issues to EVs was not the topic in this episode. But your input has been acknowledged.
@billurban1581
@billurban1581 2 күн бұрын
@@housepianist Sorry, I didn't intent to disparage your comment. You mentioned "time to charge," but only in passing. For me your entire argument turns on the "time to charge" issue. Personally I couldn't get past that EV issue, which would then - for me - require the ability to charge at home. I understand some love to promote EVs, I love to promote the alternative. It's all good.

I would like to lease a Tuscon Limited PHEV. However, I live in Texas. They are not available in Texas, only the Tuscon Hybrid. I have asked numerous Hyundai dealers as to why they are the PHEV is not available in Texas when all other manufacturers have PHEVs. I cannot get one dealer to answer that questions. They shrug their shoulders. Do you know why Hyundai doesn't have them in Texas? They have them in New Mexico, Arizona and California. FYI, I currently have a '22 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEV on a lease. I love the PHEV and want one in a Tuscon Limited. I fill up once a month! I pay $0.10/kw at my apartment complex with Level II chargers. I don't think I will get that mileage with just a hybrid.

Hypes are made by people. S2000 was a nice car, no doubt, but not as good as modern vehicles. If you are a classic JDM collector, go with it. From my experience with S2000, it is definitely not worth the current market price. Performance is one, but safety is a big concern. You crash 2008 S2000 with 2024 SUV face to face, the chance of your survival is very low.

your comment about government rebates for EVs (4:40) is off-mark, at least in the USA. Here in the US, the US Government gives roughly $20B/year to the fossil-fuel industry in subsidies/gift money. Offsetting that a little with the EV subsidies is only fair and appropriate. Take away all fossil-fuel subsidies, and you can take away all EV subsidies. Let the market decide whether oil, natural gas, and coal is worth it vs. renewable energy.

Rebates and tax credits will be necessary until the infrastructure is capable, >10 years. They’ll likely go away in the U.S. if as is likely Trump is elected. Then what?
@MikeIsCanadian

I agree. Rebates are required for EVs, especially for countries like Canada which give out massive oil and pipeline subsidies. EV rebates in Canada are not even a drop in the bucket as to what oil has received for decades. Electricians setting up modern infrastructure deserve jobs also.

I disagree with the Chinese Tarrif/Ban. Who cares if Polestar is made in China, as long as it's bringing more competition to the rather 1-dimensional EV market, it'll only benefit consumers like you and me.

You’re not helping anyone. The government just taxes them less. You need to learn principles of behavioural economics to understand these things better. Your logics can be applied to everything the government does. As a taxpayer one can find ridiculously stupid that their money goes to promote religious education for certain groups of kids, or buys out pipelines, or pays for dumb things in provinces they’ve never even visited. Or provides tax credits for those whose net worth is in hundreds of millions. So what? Ultimately there are systems in place to entice certain type of behaviour and consumption like tax on pop and rebates on solar, etc. this helps the population move towards what the government (read people who elected them) believe is the right direction to move to.

Electric and hybrid cars won't last. Hydrogen powered cars will take over soon enough. Battery equipped cars are too expensive to maintain and replace.

You understand that Hydrogen cars need a large battery to operate, right? Hydrogen cars also need to replace batteries like Hybrids.

@@whatgaca hydrogen vehicles use fuel cells not batteries. Which in turns fuel cells are more durable in long term which can potentially be more cost effective and cheaper than regular battery powered cars. So ya, battery and hybrid cars will eventually disappear since they are less and less reliable once they start to reduce the cost of making them and thus reduce quality and therefore becomes expensive. But everything gets expensive, so I stick with good old gasoline engines. I know how yt works so I won't keeps going back and forth to help finance the channel. Plus I don't trust people who just sit around with their cup of coffee talking about vehicles when I have yet to see you guys test a car.

@whatgaca 2 күн бұрын
@user-ll8eo5yk3w Hydrogen vehicles need batteries to store electricity. There isn't a single Hydrogen vehicle that only relies on Hydrogen and Fuel cells. Plus, speaking of efficiency, the only clean way to generate Hydrogen is via electrolysis using electricity. This is extremely expensive as you are separating water into O2 and Hydrogen. Hydrogen fuel cell is only 65% efficient, whereas battery based electric cars have over 90 percent efficiency
