That's great advise. Like yourself, I've formed and poured cement steady for 10+ years. Almost all was to manufacture concrete barges for floating homes in Sausalito, CA. Every pour was a 7 sack with lime and positlan, spelling, to be waterproof. You could walk on it in an hour and not leave prints. All came through a pump truck w/o issue. After so many back breaking years I threw in the trowel. You know most people fail to do the homework then take the low bid and end up with problems. You should have told the truck driver to get off the form or leave. Just because you have a CDL doesn't mean you know anything else.

Some of what I do for work is concrete. I’m not sure if it differs much up north, because of climate. But seems like you guys do it about the same.

That footing thing looks sooooooo nice. If you ever need a driveway to demonstrate a pour job on, contact me. I have a horribly cracked messed up driveway and cant even begin to afford a replacement! Great demonstration and rules btw.

We used to wrap bridge abutments with burlap and keep them wet for 5 days to strengthen the concrete.

I have been getting bids for a 35k concrete job. This video was very helpful. In my area, concrete goes for 200 dollars a yard plus tax.

I wish this video was out in 2022. I used Atlas Foundation here in Houston, TX to tear out and repour my driveway with 4 in of concrete. Surface cracked in less than 2 months. They supervisor Eric said it was normal for surface cracks to appear, but it didn't settle well with me. Paid $5500 for 4 slabs and it looks so ugly with the surface cracks. The guy doing the job was a beginner and they didn't even tamper the ground before the pour. Do not use Atlas Foundation for concrete work.

Excellent - I'm glad I stumbled on this video. I'm planning on having a driveway done later this year, great information to have. I'm in Florida, Pasco County, which is even better for your advice. What part of Florida are you in? The only thing I'd like to add; I'm in the city limits - will the contractor pull the permits? TY

@@MrKnowItAllGuru - in my small city, we have to get city permits. Homeowners can pull their own permits and act as their own contractor, can do the work themselves or hire it out. If hiring out, can be a handyman. Has to be a licensed contractor for electrical and plumbing. I would have a licensed contractor for a driveway for sure. Same with roofing, so it has a warranty. TY

@@MrKnowItAllGuru - in my small town, homeowners can pull their own permits, act as the contractor. Being your own contractor, you can hire who you want. Has to be a licensed contractor for all electrical and plumbing. I would hire licensed for roofing and driveway for the warranty.
