I love old houses, it brings me back down memory lane. Just like the suggestion of Sir Nick, the government should help preserve old houses in our country to instill pride of our cultural heritage. I remember in Las Piñas City before, the local government offered tax incentives for keeping & preserving old houses. Likewise, it also encouraged the use of old architectural designs in the building of new houses & other structures.

I propose that you, Fern, motivate Sir Nick and occasionally remind him to compose a letter addressed to either the Prince of Monaco or the Prime Minister of Monaco, urging them to save and refurbish the old and original consul house of Monaco in our homeland, so that it can be maintained as one of the ancestral houses in Quiapo.

I remember Mang Boyong the Furniture Maker from Bulacan. My family used to buy furniture from there. We still have it today. In our family when we say, "Luma Na Yan", it means, "It is Very Valuable." What Sir Nick said is really a blessing. This is good news. Personally, instead of investing my hard earned money in a Condo in BGC, I will use it to renovate and preserve the ancestral home I inherited here in Mayon Street, Quezon City. I love this channel.

Our other old house is in D. Tuazon near St. Theresa College - Quezon City. If you happen to drive by that area. One of the old houses there belongs to my family. Inaantay namin ng Japanese friend ko yung bahay sa may likod ng DLSU (or tabi?). Back in 2018 kasi nilibot namin yung mga lumang bahay dyan sa manila, pero di namin kinaya lahat mapuntahan, saka pabalik na sya Japan nung time na naisip namin gawin yun. Kaya nung nadiscover ko tong channel mo back in 2022 ata yun, Metropolitan Theater yung feature mo noon, talagang nahook ako Fern and I shared it to my Japanese friend and maski di nya naiintindihan, lagi syang nanonood. Pero if I remember correctly, ang una kong panood sayo is yung nag cover ka ng clearing operations sa isang sementeryo haha. Not sure if ibang channel yun or tinanggal mo dito. I like Sir Nick's Idea. To preserve the ancestral houses in the Philippines. I commend him for all his love and all his good ideas. He is right in saying that it's not all financial ang kailangan. Collaboration with the owners and the local govt. A must to save the old Manila and the whole Philippines. It's a good news that Quiapo will be a heritage zone it's was a poor fishing village back during Spanish era it's name derived from the floating river plant called kiyapo this area became a residencial area for diplomats and consulates Mansion houses once dominate the area in the early part of the 20th century Quiapo became the Down town of Manila it's street showcases Buildings in Art Deco styles and Mid century modern Quiapo contains unique heritage structures such as the San Sebastian church the only steel church in south east asia Quiapo Church was once called the Most outstanding Baroque Church in the Philippines in the early 70's until in 1984 it's middle part was vandalized by modernist, the only Pagoda Mansion can be seen within this district the Oldest Fire Department and Muslim Center is also within the Quiapo area and the first under pass in the Philiippines the Lacson Under pass Quiapo for centuries shaped by it's cultural heritage can be a potencial tourist destination

These are beautiful structures, though privately owned, are part of our heritage. In Singapore the old Penarakan structures were carefully restored and are now being used as shops and restaurants. In so doing,those areas were gentrified and boosted tourism as well as the economy. Build it good and they will come like in the movie Field of Dreams.
