Those days where everyone were able and afford to buy lands. And it is no surprise at all to see these old huge houses that still exist up to this day. Truly mesmerizing. Sabi ko nga from most of my previous comments that I felt some mysterious attachment each time I watched your series of ancestral houses that seemed to be I was a part of it. Born in the 60's, lived both in a ancestral home in Madrid Spain where my mother rooted and Malabon Rizal Phils. where my father's side settled after they migrated from Italy. The more older it seems the more I am enticed of the past. Great one Fern.This is one of the best ancestral series that you have done.

Indeed. I now residing back and forth from Bangkok to Manila. I live in Thailand for 30 years and despite the original roots I have I settled in asia where I was born and raised. The true Christianity is what attracted me the most kaya when God called me HE made sure that I will left no more. I am now a baptized renewed Christian. Mas masarap mag serve if serving with ppl who has known the word God first before anything and knew when to stop working and have the Sabbath day. You need that, everybody needed that. It is a recharging day after a full week of stressful personal and work life adding that the blessing of HIM being present in your life is more than enough to be content

I used to go to Miranila every Jan. 6 to pay my respects to Mommy B & Daddy B (Francisca Tirona-Benitez & Conrado Benitez) & to Tita Helen until I left the Philippines to immigrate to Canada 50 yrs ago. Sometimes I led my fellow PWU administrative employees to go Christmas caroling in Miranila. Mr. & Mrs. Conrado Benitez were both warm & kind people who treated all administrators, faculty & students of the Philippine Women's University as their family, thus, we addressed them as Mommy B & Daddy B. Being an alumna & former employee of PWU were one of the happiest times of my life because of that "family feeling" or belonging.

Am glad that you mentioned Old Bilibid Prison in Oroquieta. Our Family lived thier in 842 Oroquieta St. Sta. Cruz Manila. The Old Bilibid Compound. The Old Bilibid was established in 1900 way way before the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa. We were their from 1959 til 1979 because Imelda Marcos will build daw a state of the Art Commercial Center .

Bro Fern yan kaya yung old house n mataas pader sa san Juan, prang nnttanaw ko noon from a bus.? Kamukha lalo nyung sa Torre. Npka well maintained ng bahay at alam todo ni madam bwat sulok ng history ng bahay. Malinis pati yung old stuffs unlike sa iba na left dusty. Meron p air raid shelter. Can't wait for part 2.✨

Katubero, this is your best vlog so far. Very interesting talaga pag may nagnanarrate ng history ng isang ancestral home. Likewise, nakakainspire din ung mga personalities involved pati ung mga contemporaries nila that we have only learned from our history books. Paz Marquez-Benitez was one of the best Filipino writers in English. We read her works in Prose & Poetry in high school. What an illustrous family!
