My fave was taking off the masking tape, which really surprised me because I wasn't expecting it ...... which in turn magnified the effect. That unmasking was like scales falling off of the eyes and being able to see again. Amazing what "framing" does to what we see ..... or don't see. Free at Last, Free at Last! Loved how liberated those quadrants looked and felt .... even with just the masking tape ripped off of their of their borders. This is a simple but profound exercise which made me think about the impulse of creation ("In the beginning .....") and how "courageous" it has to be - especially when faced with the challenge of an open canvas. ​@@marabethquinart The unmasking really freed those quadrants in a way that made one realize the tape lines were really like prison bars on the creation even as they helped guide its unfolding. Taking the tape off made the quadrants breathe and showed them off as almost fully formed parts of a whole. G.C.

I have definitely tried this. On 3 11x14 canvas sheets with acrylic paint. So freeing. Beautiful colors and beautiful work
