This hat (particularly with this yarn/color) reminds me of Middle Eastern temples carved into the sides of cliffs, with colonnade walkways on some levels, and rows of windows on other levels. To me, the textures of each set of stitches emulate the ornate carvings in the rock. Make a mug of herbal tea and put your feet up, Crystal - you deserve a break!

Your landslide beanie just slid it's way onto my "do-it-man" list. Explanation of the term "do-it-man": the first time I saw your surname, I thought it would be pronounced doh-et-man which, when said quickly, sounded like "do-it-man" and thus the name for my list was born. I made one of these last night while my husband was sleeping. We got a cold snap over night and he was hauling in firewood in the cold rain so I gave him that hat and have started on another one for me. He loves it. I did it in Big Twist acrylic navy blue. Great tutorial, easy to follow and enough different stitches to make it interesting for my little ADHA brain.

Thank you, Crystal. I just love this hat. I don't know why but it reminds me of the hats Ma had from the 20s and 30s when I was very little. They were close-fitting little caps that allowed her curls to peek out all around the edges. I remember those and her beautiful velvet tuban style hats with interlocking gold buckles in front. I have got to make this hat.....perhaps in a shiny yarn. Thank you, so much :)

This hat is so much fun to make! I improvised with the Double crochet/ slip stitch rows. I love the way that looks so much I did 4 rows of it. I might venture to make a hat mostly of that stitch in the future. I made it out of Red Heart Super Saver Ombre and I just LOVE the way they do the ombre and how they fade into the next color.

How do you always seem to know what project I'm wanting to start "next"? LOL! I'm finishing up the 3D shawl you posted recently, and was JUST thinking yesterday morning that I need to start making hats. Oct-Dec in SW Oklahoma is "hat weather". We don't really start pulling out the scarves until Jan-Feb, so I know there's going to be a big rise in hat needs locally (I donate to a local charity that helps feed/clothe low-income families in our town). I am not wanting to sound ungrateful in the least! Please don't take it that way. I appreciate all you have done and do for us. But I have 2 requests for needs. Not greeds. Please consider. 1. Could you make a lightweight cooler type beanie tutorial? I've got alopecia. Fine hair and thinning. I get hot so easy that I can't even wear a wig. Need a thin one or something. You know beanies and yarn a million times more than I. 2. Could you make a tutorial for a hot/cold slip type nightie? One that hot flash sufferers could make good use of? Spaghetti strap or just sleeveless. The strap may make a bump that would hurt the shoulder blades while sleeping on the spot. You are the queen of crochet so you know what I need more than I do. I'm past menopause but still get really hot at least once or twice a night. I would appreciate it so much. I'm sure other ladies here would too ! I hope you see this. And thank you ahead of time as I listen to loud thunder and rain. Praying for no tornadoes for anyone. The rain and thunder are wonderful! I'm in ne tex and we tend to have a drought every summer so thank the Lord for days of rain to come. And thank you for sharing your knowledge of yarn and skill with us . Big hugs. Say hi to Rose.
