Sandy, that is the way I cut out many of my stencils for traditional stencil painting. I also have a heat control device that I plug the heat tool into, to keep it from overheating; also helps w/ cutting different plastic thicknesses/weights. Love your work!

This is a great video. Very inspiring. I found Ana's templates, printed then cut out the largest of each design. Scanned them individually making them a .png. Then I could open them in Cricut Design Space. Then I could size and cut them on my Cricut. Also: I found that the 2 for $1 cutting mats from the dollar store work great! I have to cut 8 times with the deep cut blade on the Cricut, but I get nice clean cuts.

Oh now the Cricut, THAT's a fun tool to have!

Thanks for posting this video. I, too had searched online for stencils and was appalled at the prices. I have gone to the website you suggested for downloading free stencil templates and will be cutting my own very soon.

Depending on what kind of printer you have, you can actually run the stencil right through a printer and print your design right on it.

Depends on the kind of cloth. Nylon, maybe.

Does this let off any nasty fumes since mylar is a plastic material? Secondly if you wanted to create a thick mylar stencil with se depth could you overlay say 3 sheets and would it cut through that amount evenly or would you just need to get 1 single thick sheet of mylar... What kind of depth can something like this cut.
@SandyHuntress2 жыл бұрын
Hi Davey, sorry, but I can’t help you with the odor question as I don’t have a sense of smell. As for creating a thicker sheet by layering,I think you could do it, (maybe with spray adhesive?) but all that thickness would make for messy cut edges. Hope this helps!
@PENFOLD19623 жыл бұрын
I would use the IRON TIP. Use it on it's side like a knife and cut along the lines. You could also file the edge of the Iron Tip so that cut's a finer line!

I've just received the heating tool I've purchased but do not dare to use it because as I was looking for a piece of glass, everybody told me I should use some heat resisting glass so it will not be damaged.... What kind of glass should I really use? Cécile from Belgium
@SandyHuntress6 жыл бұрын
Gosh, Cécile, I never really thought about it. I used a piece of picture frame glass. I just asked my husband and he said there's no need to worry, the tool doesn't get hot enough to be concerned. You could also use a ceramic tile to cut on. Hope you get lots of use out of your tool! :-)
@cecilegorski4476 жыл бұрын
@@SandyHuntress thank you so much for your reply!! I've been watching so many videos on KZbin on how to use this tool and no one ever talked about what kind of glass should be used. Everyone seems to be using the same type as you do.... So, I will give it a try.... I was so desperately looking at my tool thinking how silly it is not to be able to use it because of this "glass story". I also have some ceramic tiles, I'll try on these too. I'll let you know how it went.... 😉😃😉. Good night to you. Cécile

Can you sand carefully this plastic to get smoother edges? Or it's that a problem?
@SandyHuntress8 жыл бұрын
I don't see why not, Nikki! You'd want to be sure to have fairly heavy plastic, I'd think.

I don't think it would work the same way on poster board, Dan. It works on the plastic by melting it.

Try a better stencil sheet than Plaid and you'll be amazed at how beautifully it cuts. I was cutting smooth shapes within 5 minutes using the stencil plastic from pjstencils.com. PJ's product was so much easier to work with than the Plaid ones I, too, started out with and almost gave up on the idea of cutting my own stencils because my Plaid stencils were just so bad. I'm not affiliated with either company, just an ordinary crafts consumer who ended up doing her own comparison testing.
