Hi. Would it be possible to use the cages without beads in them? That would probably make it difficult to attach a loop to connect them to other beads in the necklace. I would appreciate your thoughts on that.

thanks for the video =) the liquid you spray on the stand-a-side clay is 95%water and 5% white vinegar? If you are leaving the clay aside for only a few minutes, would you just spray water without the vinegar? thanks =)
@SandyHuntress9 күн бұрын
Yes, the 5% vinegar is just to prevent mold from forming. If you’re certain you’re going to be using it all in one session then it’s not necessary.

If you added liquid polymer clay to add the flocking powder did you bake them again? Thanks
@SandyHuntress14 күн бұрын
Yes, liquid polymer clay needs to be cured (baked) in order for it to solidify. Some, including the manufacturers, have been called liquid clay "glue" and I wish they'd stop, because it's confusing to those who don't understand the product. 😠 Liquid clay does kind of act like glue, AFTER IT'S CURED. It will not dry and hold, like a craft glue. It's an entirely different material.
@ivonepereira480613 күн бұрын
@SandyHuntress but I read that you shouldn't bake flocking powder as it isn't heat resistant? Could you instead of adding liquid polymer clay to get the flocking powder to stick add varnish then spinkle the flocking powder on the varnish?
@SandyHuntress13 күн бұрын
@@ivonepereira4806 First of all, don't believe everything you read on the internet! It may be brand specific, so I always suggest experimenting with the supplies you have. If it doesn't work, then go ahead and try something like varnish, or thinned white glue. Or even try following the product instructions! 🤣
@ivonepereira480614 күн бұрын
So you can bake the flocking powder? Thanks
@SandyHuntress14 күн бұрын
Yes, flocking powder is just fine in the oven at polymer clay temperatures.
@ivonepereira480614 күн бұрын
Can you add the flocking powder into the clay while you are softening it? Thanks
@SandyHuntress14 күн бұрын
You can add the flocking powder into the clay, but it won't make it flocked. It will just be a texture and speckles in the clay.

I bought some gunmetal grey (color) iron headpins and I couldn't even bend them into a loop! I have no idea why they were so impossible to bend. How do I find a softer headpin that I can actually manipulate into a loop at the top of my bead? I want shocked by how stiff these head pins were especially because they were a so thin diameter. There was no indication of gauge on the package. Thank you for any info!
@SandyHuntress14 күн бұрын
The hardness of jewelry findings can vary widely, especially with lesser quality craft store products. To find headpins that you can manipulate, you'll need to experiment with the different brands and find one that works for you. You can also make your own eye pins, ear wires and bead connectors out of wire. This gives you much more control over the hardness. Learn the basics of wire working here: kzbin.info/aero/PLg8Lpg6u0akjXLnBr7aGHEYtCGJh4EcKT Check out my DIY Jewelry Findings playlist here: kzbin.info/aero/PLg8Lpg6u0akjcxWGBdp5AW9omBB4Tbc0V Hope this helps, happy creating!

You don’t need silicone. Just bake the reverse and you have both positive and negative, both from scrap clay.

You definitely can do it that way. 👍🙂 But the benefit of silicone is that it’s flexible and also will easily release the textured clay.

Hi! Thanks for sharing your review - I'm looking for a crafting light + magnifier for cross stitching, so I appreciate when crafters post reviews. Thought I'd mention, magnifiers often have covers so that you don't set your house on fire when not in use (it'll keep light from being "concentrated" through the lens, which can easily start fires) and to help protect the lens from dust or scratches when not in use.

Thank you for your kind comment, hope you found the review helpful! Yes, I figured that was what the cover was for, which isn’t a bad idea as a safety feature. But still, its design leaves something to be desired as far as usability goes. 🙂

Thank you for this tutorial!! I do have a question. Ive never used polymer clay and it seems realy hard to work with compared to foam clay and others. Do you ever have a problem with it?
@SandyHuntress2 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words about my teaching! I’m so glad you like the tutorial. Workability depends on the clay you have. There are some polymer clay brands that are firmer than others and can be quite difficult to knead. Also, if you have an older package, it may be quite stiff. If you’re new to the polymer clay world, let me recommend to you The Blue Bottle Tree website as an excellent resource. There is a lot of unhelpful and false info out there, but Ginger is a wealth of reliable information. Especially check out this article about conditioning clay, thebluebottletree.com/why-condition-polymer-clay/ Happy creating!
