I want to thank you for your very helpful video about how to make placemats and napkins. I recently bought myself a new sewing machine and wanted to get back into sewing with a simple project. You are an excellent instructor with your easy to follow instructions for the project. I wish I could visit Jordan Fabrics, but I am across the country in Massachusetts. Thank you for helping me to become interested in sewing again! I am planning on giving my family placemats and napkins for Christmas. This has also been great therapy to be able to distract my mind during these very upsetting times in our world! Thank you again for your great video!!

Thank you for showing the finger press technique for making the seamed edges crisp. You are an excellent teacher! Being in the mood to sew placemats and napkins and not having any batting on hand tonight, I lined the placemats with heavy white denim leftover from another project. It worked well.

Great tutorial and an awesome explanation of napkins.! What if you take the ruler under the fabric and fold it back on itself to expose the batting? Before you cut off placemats if you expose the batting and cut it very close to the stitch line you don't have as much fussing to get it squared. Just a thought and thinking out loud. Thank you Donna for all you do

Great video!! I love when you place the camera close enough for a "beginner", like myself to see and understand the measurements on the machine, and rolled edges on the napkins. I am going to call my friends to see what mixed colors they adore, but not tell them it's for their gifts. It will be a surprise. Then I'm going to buy the fabric, and get started on the placemat and napkin sets for them this year. Thank you for sharing this video!

Such good tips. I never thought of putting the openings on the side that doesn’t stretch or has no give. Also, marking your machine with a sharpie and then covering it with clear tape. I’ve done it in the past but with a piece of tape but never covered it and so they curl after a few hours. You’re so easy to listen to and I find that everything you mention or say is an important tip, you’re not just rambling on about nothing. Thank you so much. I’ve been sewing for a long time and happy and proud to say that I am still learning from you and people like professionals like you! Many thanks! (Sue B, from Oshawa Ontario Canada)

Donna, you mentioned Goo Gone to remove the Sharpie Marker. I use the Mr. Clean magic eraser, and the marker comes off in a second. I also use the sponges when marking template plastic and make a mistake or sloppy marking. The marks come right off with a drop of water, no chemicals. Same on rulers, easy to mark, easy to remove. I always have them in my kitchen, so I keep one in my sewing studio, cut into handy smaller pieces.. Great product with lots of uses.. Try it!!
