great video! super informative and humble. lots of ego in car maintenance and 4wd’s haha. just bought a hj60 and got super lucky with not much rust, just some exterior rust i need to fix, i don’t think i’ll need a welder as it’s not that bad.

Hey man, good to see you having a go. My suggestion (as a non-professional but I am currently working on my rusty cruiser) is to cut more away than you think. That black dimpled rust is pretty much stuffed; you will just blow holes and cause issues. Also go to bunnings and get some copper joints, smash them flat, and put behind your welds when you can to help with blow-through. Check out fitzi channel on youtube as he does some amazing stuff with simple tools. 🤙

Just finished mine, after 3 months of work I pretty much have an entire new stainless roof

Pretty tough job, Was there much rust hiding under the roof skin? Or did it all show through?
@kobihemmerle11402 жыл бұрын
@@NextStopTouring for every 1 cm of rust on the surface there is 10cm behind, in the frame of the roof.

Is the replacement sheet metal as strong as the original stuff?

Should only take ya a year or two to cut out and repair all the rust?

Just by the way that milk thing is a complete myth, probably invest in a half mask if you are concerned about heavy metals :)
