This is sweet, very fun! Regarding using a toothbrush for spatter, I learned that years back, when I was taking a class. I got the direction for pulling the bristles wrong the first time, and ended up with colorful freckles all over me. I didn't make that mistake again! ...PS. I loved The Detectorists!

I used to do spatter paint with my preschool students. We used a square screen and a toothbrush. I have been thinking about trying a small kitchen strainer. I love this!

Diane, I love watching your creations and hearing your stream of consciousness. It helps give us a jumping off point of ideas and things to do. Definitely love the wonky outline for sure. I have been selling watercolor bookmarks at Christmas craft shows and finally decided to get smart and make copies before I cut them apart into bookmarks. Then I glued those copies onto some solid colored paper to give it some body. I love these little trees that you’ve done. Such a simple idea yet so sweet and whimsical.

Hi Posie, annoying isn’t it! I’m having a day off today lounging around waiting for my BP to go down after an allergic event last night. I’m one of those people with relatively minor but potentially extremely debilitating issues - allergies, asthma and now stress related blood pressure to add to the mix. I have to thank my lucky stars it’s nothing worse but still at knocking on for 70 I can’t play games with my health any more! Hope you’re still enjoying all the painting as best you can, I certainly love to see your beautiful work which I think is some of the most creative I have seen in a long while. So often creativity is misunderstood and becomes a chore. You understand the meaning of bringing joy back into the end of your paintbrush. Hugs!!!

I have COPD as well as AMD and a very bad back….(damn..I don’t have a bunch of initials to name that😁)..so I’m right there with you. I’m praying that the whole channel/tutorials aren’t causing you undo stress. It has to be to a certain extent I’m sure! Trying to come up with all the lessons to keep everyone happy! So glad you have Tansin. As I have said before, with all my health issues and being 80, only you and your videos have made my heart happy, given me my painting life back and enriched my life in general. Truly. Your kind comments are appreciated. I hope to show some level of humor and/or kindness in my paintings. It is, after all, what I feel. I’m doing a big craft show in December at the high school. I have a dear friend to help me, or I couldn’t manage it alone anymore. It’s a big event each year when all the artists and craft people up here in the mountains come to sell their creations! I’ve done it every year for 27 years until last year. I thought that was something else I’d have to give up. But…alas!..some lady on Utube taught me how to paint differently! You showed me how to draw better, and “lighten up” and play. So grateful. My goodness…I didn’t mean to ramble on so, but it seems like your a dear friend and we’re chatting over a cup of coffee in your kitchen. But that is the way you make us all feel, and why we love you. Tell your body to stop messing around and level out your BP! 😋 You are always in my prayers, and of course cuddles to Arthur!❤️

I JUST finished a painting that I actually in my head used the word "fail!" about! Hmmmm - resurrection as a greeting card - for any occasion, not just Christmas - great idea! OMG Diane! My husband and I LOVE The Detectorists! It is such a sweet, lovely show and it is a favorite of ours too! I don't normally watch a show more than once--intentionally, that is. (We sometimes find ourselves rewatching something when we have forgotten that we watched it!) But The Detectorists is worthy of several watches, for sure. We have watched it 4 times, and I was tickled a few days ago when I saw it show up again on one of our streaming channels. I liked it even more after I watched the extra interviews with the actors and they so clearly loved the production and Mackenzie Cook, who wrote it, stars in it and directed it too. And OH! I love the cards too! I've been looking at some of my failed paintings and trying to think of something I could do with them. This just might be perfect. Ellen Crime-Trent has also taken failed paintings and scrubbed them with water to blur them and created wonderful cards too. Can't wait to try these ideas! Thank you!

Hang in there with blood pressure meds- they did a # on me and I was afraid to even drive or go to the store at first. But my body has gotten used to them and my blood pressure is back to normal which my Dr. is pleased about anyway. Love the trees and the bright colors remind me of our Fall trees at this date in October so I might try some of those first. Take care, Molly New York State 😊

Scan or copy using photo paper. Either matt or gloss photo paper. Rock (mineral based) photo paper gives a soft watercolour look.
