I see Geddy Lee, I click like. Always appreciate your honest videos. Geddy, Entwistle, and Geezer are my favorites. I remember watching somewhere, when Geddy gets aggressive he does put a lot of forearm into his "flamenco" technique. He's not gentle by any means.

I'll never forget hearing that Counterparts album for the first time, the dark thundering tones stood out as they dropped some of the synth that dominated their mid 80s material

Pino's opening bass line to Paul Young's "Wherever I Lay My Hat" is truly one of the most memorable bass "moments" in music history. That...and Alan Partridge playing "Air Bass" to Pino's playing on Gary Numan's "Music For Chameleons" 😁👍

That Partridge moment is a classic! 😂

I personally love this style of lesson probably because the majority of my practice time is using transcribe! With headphones. Sometimes i get bogged down learning whole songs when really there are certain key bits that speak to me. Thanks for that reminder

Thanks! And I love that plain P bass! That was inspirational to see a slowdown of seemingly unattainable cool lines and referring them to the scale made it seem within grasp. 🙂👍

Really liked the video today Dan. From early on in the video you were already playing tunes, and repeating them, sometimes a 3rd time, which gave me an opportunity to memorize the audio and visual cues, and I even dared tried to play along. I'll go over the video again later on, and over the weekend, and practice some more.

Great lesson Dan, as a new player I'm really finding your channel useful for learning good techniques but also starting to understand how I can improvise rather than going up and down scales. Would love a similar lesson focused on rock/punk. All the best mate.

So much content! Dan thanks so much for these videos. I started playing bass last October, been going through your videos for a few months now and I’m starting to see and hear some real improvement. It gives me so much more to do than scales and playing along with songs. And since you asked 😏, I’d love some more Joe Dart snippets to learn. I am digging his sound right now! Keep it funky brother!

Thanks! Joe Dart shall go on the list…

Great video. Would love to see/hear similar analyses for Tony Levin and John Paul Jones, among others.

All beautiful players! John Wetton's King Crimson stuff would be nice to see in one of these vids. Specifically the creepy bassline from Starless (starts around 4:30) + the cool bass chords during the intro/outro of Red.

Great bass playing! I just love P basses with flatwounds. I would love to hear you talking about the difference between a Jazz bass vs a Pj bass. Keep grooving, brother!

Thanks Adrián! I have a video on tones from both on my channel. However, one video showing differences might be good!

After the octave thing and the slide, before those quarter notes, there's a couple little fills and ghost notes I think you're missing!

Love this style of lesson! Would be great to see one on Colin Greenwood from Radiohead. He's often super low in the mix, but he has so many fantastic basslines that get slept on

@@OnlineBassCourses Decks Dark, Paranoid Android, Optimistic, and Nude are some good ones to start with. It can be difficult to make out at points, especially on Optimistic, but they are all wonderful examples of serving the song above all else. Highly reccomend you go through their discography though because there are many others worth your time *Jigsaw Falling Into Place too

Hi ,just subbed to your channel,I'm wondering do you have tutorials for the 5 string bass, I'm a newbie have already committed to a 5 string, I know a lot of people say that you should start out on a 4 string .... My mind and heart is with the 5 string, I greatly appreciate any advice that you can give me.
@OnlineBassCourses2 жыл бұрын
If you like 5 string, go for it! Search ‘5 string’ on my KZbin channel or website and you’ll find a few lessons.

Hi Dan, what type of Monitors are those? And whats that orange receiver thing in the desk? Thanks
@OnlineBassCourses2 жыл бұрын
They’re Neumann monitors(nothing special) and that’s an Eleven Rack I literally never use! I’d like to replace it with an Axe effects or Kemper.
