Purchased my 1st air hammer last year and saw other air hammers with that spring retainer. Never new the difference. This video made me realize I made the right purchase. Thank you good sir. 👍

I love the new adaptor, attempting to change tool with the old spring retainer was a pain in the neck, Sorry I took so long to respond. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the kind words. This coupling is so much easier than struggling with the spring retainer that came with the air hammer. By the way I just subscribed to your channel. Thanks for watching mine.

If you're removing tiles, off a small area on a concrete floor like a basement bathroom my Air hammer with a 1.5 chisel did the job great. (Safety Glasses are a Must) Thanks Richard.

Just got a long barrel by Air cat. It really brings the beans. Knocked out some rusty exhaust bolts in under 5 seconds.

Thanks Lalo; Those spring retainers were a pain. I would spend about 10 minutes every time I wanted to change chisels. I knew there had to be something better available. Thanks for watching

How are the chisels supposed to return to the hamer repetitively without the spring?

I don't understand exactly how it works but that has not been an issue. Some how it does. Thanks for the question and watching. my channel.

Thnx!! I have a Chicago pneumatic I want to sale, wasn't sure exactly what I had. Now I know I have three different sized ball joint removal tools!! ;);
@richardspaulding50353 жыл бұрын
LOL; I just reviewed the video and it was just by chance I selected that particular attachment to demonstrate. I am glad it was helpful. They call them pickle forks, You wrote you have 3, The larger ones are for ball joints and the smaller ones are for tie rod removal. I am glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching my channel.

The only problem with quick chucks is the hardened balls bet up the retainers on the bits. Probably not a big issue for occasional use though

Thanks Jeff; I have not noticed that however as you mention it, since my retirement as I now work out of my home shop I am indeed an occasional user. thanks for the information and thanks for watching my channel.

What is the smallest air compressor I can use to run such an air hammer? I have a 6 gallon pancake from Ridgid. Probably too small. Just want to try my luck though. Thanks!
@richardspaulding50352 жыл бұрын
Mine is a 30 gallon. Not sure how small you can go.
@greod10062 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you picked up an air hammer but I ran a small harbor freight air hammer with my old 6 gallon for a few years. It's definitely not optimal but you still get a few seconds of hitting in it. I also ran my bigger .498 air hammer on it but once again it only lasted a few seconds before it drained the entire compressor. I recently finally upgraded to a 6.2 scfm 30 gallon tank and it was certainly worth the money, but I'd run it on a 6 gallon again if necessary. Smaller .401 shanks like the one he has in the video run a little longer than a thirstier .498 shank.

will this work on a dewalt electric hammer drill?

No, I do not believe it will.

That spring you had on in the beginning, that is the spring to hold the chisel heads into place? I was so confused what it was for as mine came with a quick adapter as well........
@richardspaulding50352 жыл бұрын
The quick-change adaptor is a fairly recent innovation. The spring is indeed for holding in the chisel. When I started out as a young mechanic in the 1970s that was all that was available. It has always been a pain to switch chisels until this adaptor came along. Thanks, for watching.

@@richardspaulding5035 wait til the chisel shank deforms after heavy use like knocking out seized torsion bars out then you can’t remove the chisel without pulling the quick change adapter and grinding the shank down to get past the 3 retaining balls, yesterday was the 3rd time in months I’ve had to do this so I’m thinking about buying the old spring style retainer
@richardspaulding5035 Жыл бұрын
Thanks, I will watch for that. It has not happened as of yet. Now that I am retired, I am not a high-volume shop anymore so I don't expect that to happen as I only work on friends and family vehicles these days. Your comment will be very helpful to heavy users who are considering purchasing one.
