Very impressive and informative videos. Your thorough no-nonsense presentations are exceptionally well-done with helpful sidenotes. Love the corny little jokes as well. Keep the great videos coming. Contrary to many of the KZbin presenters, you are a natural. As a Blackstone newbie, I really appreciate the invaluable tips.

We got my husband a Blackstone for father's day, he doesn't cook but lives to eat so I have been searching the internet for tips and recipes. I was suprised Pinterest is so lacking. Then my son in law sent me your tik tok video about the shield for the grease opening and I am now binge watching all your videos. I have to say they are by far the best and most helpful videos I have seen, you get straight to the point, your jokes make me chuckle and I have learned something in each one of them. The only downside is I am not accomplishing what I set it to do today LOL

Nice I figured this out too, I bought the scouring pad and the other thing but realized just a little bit of water and scrape/wipe will do just fine. I feel like the scouring pad and that other attachment might be good if it's reallllllly bad lol but I haven't had to use it yet.

Yep. I’ve used the scouring pad maybe twice in the past year.

I found paper towels leave little pieces of paper on the grill. A lint free terry cloth towel is what I prefer for that last step.
@GrillThisSmokeThat3 жыл бұрын
Those work well too. Heavy duty paper towels work but any of the cheaper ones do leave lint behind.
@michiglenn2 жыл бұрын
Terry cloth works great if you’re cleaning it properly.. But nothing wrong with paper towels. The “lint” left behind easily burns off quickly when the grill is heated up.

So we have had a blackstone grill since last summer and I've had it rust twice. I scraped it all the way down and then reseasoned it with 3 or 4 layers but my husband refuses to put a little oil when cooking on the surface because he thinks it doesn't need to be oiled while cooking. I respectfully disagree. But now he cooked on It again not long ago and he couldn't get all the food that burned on all the way off so it rusted again. So now I have to bring it back to basic again and reseason it again. I want to try cleaning it like you do now and see if it stops rusting. Do you add oil when you cook on it?
@GrillThisSmokeThat Жыл бұрын
It really depends on what I'm cooking. Typically I do add oil when cooking.
@queenyv69 Жыл бұрын
Do you use a bigger grease trap? The one it comes with seems so small lol

I do not.

I've heard that using water like that, it will chip your non stick coating off. Have you had any trouble with that since you've had it? I used to do it then I read that and got spooked. Thanks you!!!
@GrillThisSmokeThat3 жыл бұрын
I’ve used this method for over 10 months and have had zero issues. I don’t know why it would cause the seasoning to chip.

I noticed your cover sits flat when hooked on the back, doesn't the drop tray cause it to sit at a weird angle?

It has a slight lean to it.

I worry I’m cleaning too well and not allowing the seasoning to build up. Does your method still allow the seasoning to build? Does the cleaning get easier as the seasoning builds?

I don’t think you have to worry about cleaning it too well

Just out of interest ive seen a lot of people specify hot or warm water when cleaning, does cold water on a hot flat top react like hot water on a cold car and cause cracks or something else?
@GrillThisSmokeThat Жыл бұрын
It’s not likely but it’s possible I guess.
@ErikGuin2 жыл бұрын
How do you keep your blackstone stored outdoors? I see the metal cover but do you also use a waterproof cover? Also what about winter... do you store it in the garage? We just got one and im curious what other people do. I watched your hibachi video too, man it looked good!! 🍻 Cheers!
@GrillThisSmokeThat2 жыл бұрын
I use that hard cover and then I also have the canvas cover that is mostly waterproof. I don’t move mine inside because I’m in Georgia and we cook on it most of the winter. Thanks! We love making hibachi.

Do you ever have an issue with part of your griddle “flaking?” I’ve noticed a couple of spots where I scrape to clean where the seasoning seems to be flaking off.
@GrillThisSmokeThat2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t had that issue. I think that is from leaving too much oil on it and getting it hot when you are attempting to season it.

I just started using my new grill it puts out a lot heat I worry about using side shelves pieces without a guard or something because of is heat what do I need to do
@GrillThisSmokeThat2 жыл бұрын
I don’t put anything within 6” of the griddle on the side shelves. It will melt plastic and make metal really hot. I suggest a separate tables to keep things on.

Haha. I’ve burned myself too but it works so much better! I love that it has a little flex so it conforms to the surface really well.
@Johnnyboy2004062 жыл бұрын
If you actually use the stone it will actually clean the grill to where it won’t remove your seasoning but it will clean off all that black char from tainting your next cook. I use my stone with oil to clean it while warm. Then crank the heat and add water and then scrape into the trap and use an old cotton dish towel to wipe clean. Then turn back down to warm and rub in a new thin coat. I can run a white paper towel and it wipes clean. It takes an extra 5 minutes to clean it this way but its worth it to me
@pointq Жыл бұрын
Can you explain what you mean by “the stone”?

Very easy until the grease splashes up when using the paper toilet and you have a burn for several weeks lol
