Reggie, We live not too far from the airport and I about mistook our 5 yr. old GE top loading washer for a 737 just prior to takeoff. I immediately thought bad bearing - big job. Then I saw this video. I was able to easily displace the tub over far enough to see that one of the rubber straps is broken. I owe you a six pack. Thanks for putting video on KZbin!!!!!

We figured out how to control the off-load spin-cycle issue much easier: Bought a 2800 lbs 20 foot tow cable from Harbor Freight and wrapped it tightly around BOTH washer and dryer (they are right next to each other). This was our solution: No banging or moving around. Very silent. Couldn't be more happy. In the last 18 months since we did this, only once did it require us to re-position the towells.

Hi Reggie. I replaced the drive belt on my GE washer by tilting it on its side and removing the bottom plate. After I put it back together and stood it up, the spin cycle began with a loud bang and then a lot of other noises. I popped off the front and saw that the tub has 2 tabs bottom center and 2 wings standing up from the base plate. Well, the tub was off kilter and one of the tabs was stuck on top of the wing. By watching your video, I was able to figure it out. Thanks much!

I hope are still on here and can help me with my washer. It's not a GE, but it's a Whirlpool top loader model # WTW4800XQ2. I am hoping that this fix is universal. I have that one and only off balance banging happen during the spin cycle. It usually only happens when I do towels, or blankets, and sometimes jeans.
@LeanOnYourRep2 жыл бұрын
Very common for the design you have. You have to evenly distribute the towels/weight in the tub. Eventually you'll need to replace the tub springs
@stephaniemurr80352 жыл бұрын
@@LeanOnYourRep hah! Funny you say that because I was able to get the a look inside and there is only 2 springs on the right hand side (standing in front of washer) one is in the back and one is in the front. However, it looks like I maybe missing a spring on the left hand side. There looks to me like there are the holes that the spring would attach to and then attach to the rod. I am not sure if there is a spot for a second spring on the left hand side, the bleach tray is in the way if that makes sense? The springs that are there on the right hand side are extremely flimsy feeling so I plan on replacing them. I guess what I'm trying to ask you is this: should there be spring on both sides of the drum or just the right-side?

We have a Hot Point top load washer(basically a GE) During the spin cycle you can hear it banging around pretty bad...most the vids i viewed showed a loose counter weight as being the problem. I disassembled the machine about 10mins ago, and the counter weight looks to be good and tight. What else could cause this problem? The 4 black rubber dampers in your vid seem to be fine. I thought it was just the rubber stabilizers making my washer off kilter. The front right had fallen off and front left snapped. But after opening it up and reattaching the right front I'm realizing it must be much more than the rubber stabilizers. I have a ge top loader, model wjrr4170eww, it was leaking water so I replaced the tub seal and resealed the transmission because the fill plug was missing and the oil was goo. When I put it back together it now won't spin, it tries to and stops, not sure what happened but before, I replaced the capacitor, no help. Any ideas? It agitates fine, I also cleaned out the level tube and I can hear the level switch click when I blow into the tube. I checked the resistance of the lid switch, that was good too, during rinse/spin the motor turns to spin and I can hear it bang then it stops.

This old man is hardheaded and it's been apart 3x now maybe 4x . I have changed the 4 shock rods, the bearing ,the split ring seal. The transmission shaft . It's only slightly better . It has to be with the washer basket , hub or ring . I can't keep funding this piece of junk. What would Reggie do . The balance ring seems as described with 2/3 full . Clean the hub ? The counter weight seems fine . It was loose but it also had been spun out of balance quite a few times . The interior was loaded with fabric soften waxey build up . Help Reggie

I have a kenmore 110.21252110. The technician said I need a new transmission so not worth repairing but he didn’t really look at much in the machine other than the agitator and read the codes. How can I check if I truly need a transmission? I hate to send the machine a landfill. The machine works but I feel the clothes aren’t getting as clean as before. The machine was off balance and wouldn’t spin out the water completely either. But I took care of that by coming to check the clothes and shifting them around a bit and they go thru the spin and drain that way. I got codes F7E7 and F7E6. Thank you, any advice would be appreciated.
@LeanOnYourRep3 жыл бұрын
That's a very common problem with that washer design, sometimes changing the support rods helps for a little while but then it reverts back to doing the same off-balance action. And yes overtime the transmission stem can get bent causing the tub to wobble off balance also. Got to agree with the repair person that came out to looks at it. I usually don't even service those because of that issue.
