When you see how easy it is to fix the spray bottles, chances are you’re not gonna just throw it away. Especially if it’s a spray bottle you really like. You’ve got to make sure that you use the correct lubricant. Silicon grease does not break down plastic or rubber. If use something like automotive grease the fix will work for a little while until the plastic breaks down and will stick twice as bad. Having the right grease will allow you to fix i’ll kinds of plastic pieces

Yes... Low-budget videos can be just as good as monied videos. The worst are the ones where the person drones on and on for 15 mins to fix something that took 60 secs.

Hint: If you don't have silicon grease, there might be something else around the house that works. I've used silicone-based personal lubricant to fix sliding closet doors. For my spray bottle, I happened to have a sample packet of silicone-based hair product.

the sprayer heads are usually made out of PP (polypropylene), which is quite hardy and resistant to most petroleum products, so I wouldn't worry too much about that ruining it. Some other plastics and rubber are more sensitive to solvents though (usually from spaycans), so be aware of that. Silicone is ideal for plastic-on plastic and any sort of gaskets and wet areas - so its a geat choice for this. very useful to have a tube of it.

The issue I continually have is the sprayers fail after very little use when I’m pumping pure well water, and it doesn’t make sense to me. Is well water more coarse which causes pump damage?
@finnsionnach9989
@finnsionnach9989 3 жыл бұрын
while it should not be "more coarse" there may be other factors that depend on the well water, ours is salty and has alot of other odds and ends that leave residue when it dries in THAT case cleaning the nozzle with vinegar (soak it for a night in a glass?) might do you (your well water will be different and might need something else), but for the spring not returning this guy right here is a genius.. i can't count how many bottles i've thrown away over the spring not returning the trigger

I have another problem. I had a pesticide in the bottle, so I wanted to wash it out. I screwed off the nuzzle, and then while rinsing the bottle, that small inner plastic thingie of the nozzle flew out. I put it back and screwed the cap on but now when I spray, I don't get a mist but just a tiny stream out. Ok, it's "good enough", but it doesn't cover a wide surface anymore, because it sprays to a single point 😀 I tried to turn the cap both ways to adjust but it did not get the mist back. Not sure, what happened - maybe there was one more plastic piece inside that plastic thingie, and I lost it. Wondering if I can find something to replace it.

What about WD40?
@finnsionnach9989
@finnsionnach9989 3 жыл бұрын
wd40 eats alot more stuff than you'd think. some plastics it is safe for- some it will eat. so depends on what the bottle is made of.. I'm pretty sure a little google time will come up with a list of what plastics are okay to use it on. (it will "last" less time than the silicone lube in any case as a thin liquid coating vs a glob of gel - you get the idea.

@livefree6878

Mineral oil might work temporarily, mineral oil is made out of the same oil products that the plastic is made out of. Silicone grease would work great, sometimes you can find it in the plumbing section. Hope this helps
