Some useful things that were not explained in this video: If you started a new video project, the Compositing tab may not be there. Press + on the tab layer at the top to add it in. Also, "This is how I have it set up" doesn't actually tell us how to set it up so first-time Blender users can easily follow along. Also, that checkmark click for "Use Nodes" was fast and not called out -- if that's important, it should probably be called out. To get the viewer, click the upper-left corner of the upper-right section (it's a tiny icon with a drop-down) to open Editor Type -- select UV Editor, use the middle drop-down icon to change it to Viewer Mode. Use Shift-A in the Compositor panel to add (if necessary) Movie Clip and Viewer nodes, and ensure they are linked at Image. You may need to select your clip in the Movie Clip node. My explanation is all kinda sloppy because I was figuring junk out as I went along, all to make sure I had the same setup in the first 30 seconds here... I dunno if there's any other "basics" basics to add. Now will try and watch the rest of the video, since things kinda match now. Blargh. x_x

Why did you use the dilate/erode node with the matt instead of just using the edges output of the key?
@KenanProffitt4 жыл бұрын
Hey Good question! My edge output wasn't as clean as I like it to be so I stuck with the matte. You're correct that the edge output normally could get the job done as well. :)

In the old days when it was just classrooms, this is the kind of instruction where I would find that I have nothing to follow along with I would already be so far behind my mind would take me to far away summers on a road trip a friend laughing our asses off and talking about how glad we were it was Friday under the 90 degree sun with ice cold beer and shots on the horizon, and snapping out of it when the lesson ends. Today I would be on the hook for $150,000.00 for those classes. Thank goodness I can just write a few words in the comments and move on.

Blender's Video editor is like the "Eclipse IDE" of video editing. No books or videos or anything will help. The only way to learn this is brute force pioneering by trudging through it with a lot of trial and error, pointing and clicking passively while watching a movie, until about 1,000,000,000,000 function correlations have been absorbed and then you're ready to fly.

Add a new workspace area (move the mouse to the corner of an area until the mouse turns into a cross, then drag a new area in) - then select UV editor and switch it to "Viewer Node" at the top centre.

First off: -Loading footage/image into the bottom section doesn't load it into the viewer in t he top right and how to do this is never explained. -When the Composition tab is clicked, there is nothing there, most likely due there not being an image in the Viewer, from the previous problem I listed. -the tutorial becomes utterly unusable at this point. 1/10 - Did not enjoy.
