It would be cool if they released an OSRS variant of the rulebook where all of the art was done like the OSRS art style.

pretty sure it's a bit of both.

I just bought the rule book and played as GM yesterday. It was an amazing experience! The tabletop RPG gives the same vibe and feeling of being in Gielinor as the mmo rpg it self. If you never played a RPG it'll be a perfect place to start, cause the rules are really easy to understand and yet it keep a certein level of complexity for more experienced players. As a long time RuneScape fan (15 years or so) I can say is worth it a try! The book also gives space for you to bring more high level content and adapt a bunch of the videogames content to the tabletop, so you can unlock new magics/summons/prayers as you do in the original games.

I'll have to check this out! Old school runescape quests are so underrated in their quirky all ages writing. I often tell friends its like if kings quest 6 had an rpg sequel. Geilinor really is a fun world and i've sometimes slipped ideas from osrs into my Knave ttrpg games. Very happy for Geilinor to get some love in ttrpg.

This is so cool! Weird that a brand new TTRPG can have this much nostalgia.
@imperfectimp9 ай бұрын
I haven't played Runescape in quite a few years, but saw this on the High Rollers DnD channel and it was just so nostalgic. I just need to play this at sone point. Edit: I've played this now with the pre-order pdf. Combat sucks. It is extremely punishing early on, but fixing it so monsters don't deal damage when you succeed the Defence test and armour soak applying to players the same way it does to monsters, you become invincible when you max out defence. It's so frustrating that it makes me want to redesign the entire combat system. Also, you can gather runite ore and catch lobsters and swordfish with just level 1 in those skills. Unless they really change things in the final release, I don't think I'll be playing this anymore, or I'll modify it so far from the original that it becomes a new game. I'm honestly curious if I can design something that lets me fight monsters using the stats on the RS wiki, because the bestiary is very limited, too. And don't get me started on the lack of enchanted jewellery. Edit 2: and I feel like these guys don't know how 3d6 work. When it was my turn to roll a travel check, I needed a 3 or 4, which has less than 2% chance of happening. Even if the GM gives a +2 bc it's a well-travelled road that's still less than 10% for a beginning character while in DnD an easy DC 11 check is a 50/50 for a novice with +0.

How come this is not available in Australia and OCE yet? Is there a date on it's release down here?
@Steamforged9 ай бұрын
Hey @Dukeos, unfortunately we're not able to ship to Australia on our store yet. It's something we're looking into!

I ordered this the second it came out. So excited that it has a robust crafting mechanic! I was hoping so much that it wouldn't be just a lame 5e system. So stoked!

I dont understand, is it just the book? On the runescape page it shows Shadow of Elvarg and some game pieces? Are those coming out later on?
@ricaugjnr9 ай бұрын
Hi Carter, so RuneScape Kingdoms: The Roleplaying Game is a complete rpg in a book. RuneScape Kingdoms: Shadows of Elvarg is a boardgame with a number of different expansions

yeah. I wish they had this and a live play up when the pre orders opened. I skipped pre ordering and waited for retail because of that.

will the skill grinds be as long? XD
@MrTriqks9 ай бұрын
Unless they changed it. And depending on your average play session. You need 5 skill points in any amount ( meaning you should be able to put 1 in 5 different skills or all 5 into 1) per 1 attribute level up. To which if you play an average of 4 hours or so you should definitely be able to level up a attribute or 2 per session as it also allows for training, like the mmo.
@MrTriqks9 ай бұрын
So not terribly Long. Unless someone knows how to convert its skill point max of 10 per skill to 99 like actual runescape then not really .
