Someone in the Facebook Cartoon Animator User Group asked how to make a hen walking cartoon in Cartoon Animator 4? I saw the question as a challenge to see how fast I could rig and animate a hen walking. Real time this took about 20 minutes.
The method is the same in Cartoon Animator 4 and 5 - you'll find the dummy Human template I use in the free content packs that comes with Cartoon Animator 5.
This demo also shows the strength of how easy it is to rig a G3-PSD character inside Cartoon Animator using just one image. I'd have to use a different approach to do this with a G3-SVG Dummy Template.

Thanks. I wasn't going to post this to KZbin initially but I thought maybe people would find it useful to see how the human template can be adapted to other two legged critters so you can still use predefined motions.

one question not related to the tutorial, but can i have CTA 4 and CTA 5 installed in my PC at the same time int he same account? I'm barely learning CTA and I started with version 4, I will get CTA 5 eventually very soon, but I still want to have CTA 4 installed just in case I have a hard time in CTA 5. I do know that for iclone you can have a previous version installed and run both without a problem, but I do not know about CTA. Do you know? Thanks in advance. I love your tutorials.

Yes you can have both versions installed on the same computer (and one additional computer for each as well) in the same account with no conflicts etc. Note that they won't share the same content library though I think you can set up CTA5 to share but I never worked out how to do it. Anyway, I have both installed and generally use CTA5. I used CTA4 for this demo because the person who asked the question specifically asked for CTA4.

@@animlife Thanks a lot, I just got CTA 5 I've seen the demo from RL, I like it a lot, more flexibility. Although I'm not a CTA user at all, the few times I've used CTA 4 I've found some clashes meaning, some problems when setting up a scene and adding audios, motions, and videos, I also realized that CTA needs better programming because it crashes if a couple of videos are dropped in such as popvideos from RL, I know it's the program itself, they need to improve how the program calculates things to speed up the process and to avoid crashing, Well this is off topic as well, because I'm certain I will find some errors in CTA 5 as well. Nonetheless, I love the improvements, I love how easy it is to animate, once I'm passed those errors and things that cause crashes I can improve animations, it's truly fun and easy to use, very user friendly, I love CTA and I love your tutorials, from other users I've watched tutorials I will have to place yours at the number one in youtube, even compared to those from RL. Nice work, most appreciate it.

@@excelcontentjudge Thanks I really appreciate that you think so highly of my tutorials. I must say, while I have experienced CTA crashing from time to time, it's never been a big issue for me. I try to keep my scenes small. I rarely need to import video and when I do they're usually short. Other than voices for lip sync, I never import audio directly into CTA, I always do my sound edits in my video editor. If you're finding importing video into CTA is often causing crashes maybe explore an alternate workflow where you can add the video in your video editor?

@@animlife yes unfortunately is videos which crash the program, I have a very fast computer, so the computer can handle big projects, which are way bigger than a project done in CTA, that's the reason why I came to the conclusion that it's the program itself. I'm a programmer and when long lines of code are in a program it crashes whereas small lines of mathematical codes that can iterate calculations very fast do not make the computer go idle, or crash at all. In what you say, I did not want to actually use an external program to do my scenes there I wanted to restrict myself to CTA only, but as I said since I noticed how CTA may crash there's no other way. I can set up my video renders with a small scene in a video editor, since my video renders are already transparent, althougth they are not compatible with my video editor unless I install the popvideo from RL. I will have no problem since I can import my renders directly from iclone as mp4's with transparent background. I actually did one video combining mp4 from iclone, and CTA renders and merge them in my video editor, the final render using my video editor was superb in quality as I can touch it up for sharpness,, color, and also audio without any hassles, it's more steps but I enjoy it I can't lie. However I know that people in youtube need a guide for "CTA dummies" and that's why I love your videos because you go step by step and you do not skip anything, and not being a CTA user mentioning names of things, and not showing where they are, or changing name by mistake makes the tutorial a bit frustrating or terrible. So far I've not seen any of that in the tutorials I've watched from you. I'm going to make a video of who I think are the best people to go to when using CTA, I will rank you in the first place, not trying to adulate you at all, but you deserve that. I will make sure that CTA users or iclone users who have CTA but do not touch it or are curious go to your page. Thanks for replying, and for your advice. Cheers :)

@@excelcontentjudge I used to be a programmer as well, but that's nearly a lifetime ago now. CTA definitely has its moments. I can't say I've been crash free but if I stick to just making the actual animation in CTA and using a video editor for the heavy lifting I run into fewer problems. If it helps (and if you're not aware) CTA can export transparent MOV files (but it can't import them - you'll get black where the video should be transparent). CTA can import transparent Animated PNG images though - which may be an alternative. Thanks for your support of my tutorials... I do try to approach them as if the viewer is learning whatever I'm teaching for the very first time. Which is why I take the time to try and make sure you can see the steps I'm taking. I really dislike full screen, screen records with little to no audio instruction trying to pass them off as 'tutorials'. Even in a demo like this one I'm zooming in so you can see what I'm doing even if there's no voice narration.
