I took my Nikon D3400 on a quick trip to Annapolis Rocks via the AT (Appalachian Trail). I was not expecting heavy fog, but I found the hike extremely peaceful ... enjoy the video and be safe!:)

I have been planning on getting into DSLR photography for at least 5-6 years now. I just didn't have time or the correct mindset to get into it. I found a nearly brand new Nikon D3400 two weeks ago. The seller bundled it up with a bag, two kit lenses, a neck strap, two batteries, a charger, a memory card, a tripod a polaroid camera and 2 cartridges for a really good price. I did not want to miss out on this opportunity and bought it right away. Not knowing anything about DSLR's, however, I took 3 photos with Auto mode (what a shame :D) then I blamed it on the camera. I told to myself maybe I should have invested in a better camera. But luckily I came across your channel, and I started learning your tips and tricks. It improved my understanding of photography a lot. And now I love my camera! I absolutely love your content. The way you teach is really inspiring. For almost all of your videos, I can feel like we're chatting by the campfire and I'm learning from a close friend. Calm and positive attitude you have is contagious! I think the fact that you're aware that photography is mostly creativity is what makes you different. You give all the tips and techniques without trying to shape our creativity. You're a good man and a teacher in my opinion, please keep up the good work.

I do this on most of my road trips. Recently went up to Pittsburgh to visit some friends, drove up from GA instead of flying because you can take I-26 up through the Blueridge Pkwy/Mountains and there are a ton of state parks and scenic overlooks to stop at and do some hiking and photography. Makes the trip feel a lot more meaningful and helps to relax and stretch your legs during the drive.

thanks for the post/feedback!:) music is always tricky for various reasons ... finding songs that fit the mood/video, songs that do not offend most people, and songs that are free to use. i have a handful of go-to songs that i found over the years. i found some on free music archive (.com) and exchanged messages with the artist/band ... most are great and have no issues sharing their music, etc.

New subscriber here and I have an of topic question. I'm new to photography and my wife and I are moving to Utah this summer. I need the ability for great photos but I also want to start doing reviews of my motorcycles, gear, blog, etc. So, video is also important for me. Based on your reviews I'm considering the T6i and the Nikon 5600. They seem similar but I'm leaning towards the 5600. I like that it records in 1080p at a higher fps, the screen tilts as well as pivots, it has Bluetooth, and refurbished it is a little cheaper. A mic is important and it will also be used on an Evo Rage 2 gimbal. I also have their Shift gimbal for my Pixel 3XL and will also be getting a GoPro hero 8 or Max. With all those options I feel I can make some great content. I was looking at buying a refurbished unit from B & H. What's your thoughts and opinion? Thanks.
@RealWorld
@RealWorld 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the post/question Scott:). Sounds like an interesting adventure awaits! I rode years ago - good times:). I have used a bunch of cameras to shoot photos and record video. My advise is this ... since you plan to capture both video and photos, I would lean towards the Canon 80D ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX_Hg6mnYpibnac ) or T7i ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJjZgYV9qMiYntU ). If you did not plan to shoot video, I might lean towards Nikon. Why? Canon has a great dual pixel AF system and when paired with their STM lenses, creates great/smooth AF video. Nikon's counter to Canon's STM lens, is the AF-P which this include with the D5600. AF-P is a solid improvement over the AF-S lens with is comes to silent AF for video (the AF-S makes a good amount of noise and tends to hunt for focus).

Hello... I'm a photographic enthusiast. I regularly follow your videos. I would like to ask you a question which most of the photographers doesn't give specific answer. I am thinking to by a camera and is confused which machine to buy. So it will be greatly appreciated if you could advise me to buy a Canon or Nikon. I'm looking for an entry level DSLR.
@RealWorld
@RealWorld 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the post/question Benix!:) I was in your shoes many years ago and could not find anyone with a straight answer. After shooting with many different models and working with many different people in photography, I will not try to confuse the issue. In short, if you plan to a relatively good amount of video in addition to photos, I might lean towards Canon. If video is not a concern or if you only plan to shoot very little, I might lean towards Nikon. Canon has done a great job with their STM lenses and AF system related to video whereas Nikon removed the AA filter which tends to create slightly sharper results. Don't get me wrong - both are solid though:). If you go down the Nikon path, I would suggest the D3400 if you can find one (the D3500 is newer but I like the D3400 over the D3500 (image quality is the same but Nikon removed a couple of features from the D3500)). If you go down the Canon path, I would suggest the T7i. I have videos on the D3400, D3500, and the T7i - check my channel. Hope this helps!:)

@RealWorld

Typically, this indicates the scene is too dark for a proper exposure which is not a big deal issue depending on your location. For example, if you are inside in a relatively low lit situation using the camera without the flash enabled/extended, the camera will show the question mark. You might also press the question mark button on the back on the camera which the question mark flashes - this should give you more information.

I have a Nikon d3500 and I purchased a af 50 1.8 from Mpd.com. I got the lenses and connected it but it’s not letting change the appiture with the switch on the camera. But I can focus with the lenses. My question is, is this how it supposed to work or did I order the wrong lenses.
@RealWorld
@RealWorld 4 жыл бұрын
Was it a Nikon lens or off-brand? Nikon makes two versions ... a D and G. The G costs a bit more but is necessary if you want AF ( amzn.to/2kD7EkF ). The D version is less expensive and will work fine although no AF. Nonetheless, aperture should work on both.

Hi I’m a huge fan. Learned everything I know about my D3400 from this channel . Thank you very much. I’m currently looking to upgrade my camera. Any recommendations what camera I should consider?
@RealWorld
@RealWorld 4 жыл бұрын
thanks for the post/feedback and glad to be of help!:) some might suggest upgrading to the d5600, but i would ask if you are looking to stay with a crop sensor or go full. if you plan to stay with a crop sensor and want more bells and whistles, i might suggest the d5600 or better yet the d500. the d500 is a solid workhorse IMO. if you want to jump into the full sensor, consider the d750 ... the d750 has been around for a few years and very solid IMO. i suspect you can find a used one for a good price. keep in mind, if you go full sensor, you will need new lenses:).

Hi, I had the D3500. Really nice camera, my first DSLR and I learnt how to use it from this channel. I got a bit frustrated with it after 9 months having to keep dipping into the menu to change some setting, plus I wanted a bit more advanced camera but wanted to keep my lenses and happy with crop sensor. I got a Nikon D7200 - got it from a reputable dealer PX'ing the D3500. Although 5 years old only had 450 shutter count and came with 6 month guarantee. Brilliant camera and easy to convert from the D3500 too as shares the same menu. Buttons for everything so no more diving into the menu, a pleasure to use. Still filling my memory card with questionable images but great fun. Also, this channel has an introduction to it.
