I enjoy your videos so much! One note on the chicken vindaloo (one of my favorite dishes) is that the “aloo” in vindaloo translates to “potato”. Add some cubed potatoes and stretch it further.

Home canned meat has saved our nights over and over again. I can't stress how important it can be to put some meat on the shelf - especially for those of us that have freezers full of meat that could go bad if the power were ever to go out. 👍👍👍 Having lived in Texas during the massive snow storms a few years ago, I can attest to this possibility. Thanks for the suggestions! ♥

I keep as much canned meat in the pantry that I can do. I watch for “case” sales and can it up. Nothing better. You can make so many different things with it.

Grandchildren are an incredible blessing and being able to cook for them and nourish their growing bodies is a pleasure beyond words. I have one granddaughter that is two and another on the way and I’ve had this wonderful pleasure several times throughout the past two years and I can’t believe how blessed I am that my daughter and husband let me have full rein over the kitchen when I’m there and I even make meal plans for them and create grocery lists from them and this helps them as well because they know they will have everything on hand to make each of the meals if I’m not there to make them. I love being able to help them out this way and help them establish a meal rotation of things they enjoy. Both of them work full time and it’s really difficult to find time for some of these important aspects of parenting but nourishing young bodies is number one in Grandma’s book everything I make has that extra special ingredient that can’t be found in any fast food or restaurant “food”….love❤ ❤️🥰🇨🇦🙏🏻🍁 I pray you will be blessed with grandchildren in the near future and will know this joy.❤

I appreciate this so much. It’s only me and my fiancé were older. He had a work dinner and I was just going to make pizza bites but I wanted real food. I cook at home 95% of the time bc of a health condition. I got severe neuropathy from Covid. I’ve done a lot of research and I was health conscious before this but even more now. So I made homemade chicken fingers which is my favorite! Takes about twenty minutes and we have food for days. Some salad or sauteed veggies and dinner was done! I chose salad bc it was easier with just my finances mom’s homemade vinaigrette. Good olive oil, red wine vinegar, mustard and basil.

I’m glad you added at the end how the dessert pizza turned out because I would love to replicate that!! I wondered if you would do anything different and what did the kids think of it? You are sooo right about when you are hungry and the kids are going wild around you for some reason your brain just won’t help you come up with quick meal ideas so having a list close by is perfect and knowing that they are made from staples that you keep on hand takes a lot of the guess work out. You made me laugh each time you said I’m not going to use rice again ….you ended up using it! lol😂 Use what you have I say and when it’s mixed in kids won’t realize they are having rice again but it will be a good filler for their tummies.🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦🍁

The message I got was "a little food prep saves the day when you're busy". I don't do canning but I have a lot of prepped stuff in the freezer. When I buy a huge pile of ground meat I cook almost all of it ahead of time, half with onion and green pepper chopped and added to the mix. Sealed in quart bags in the freezer these thaw quickly because they are pre-cooked, or throw them frozen in the broth for soup or stew. I buy a big head of celery and chop it all up in the food processor and freeze it in small bags to be thrown in, ready to go. I also make soup base by sauteing chopped onion, celery and carrot. When mostly cooked I freeze the mix in labeled bags. This sort of thing helps so much on a busy day.
