can’t really ever say i’ve cared for the 120 but ill admit the adjustable siren makes the DSP model tempting. wondering if the 120DSP will follow the same footsteps as the V8 WR300 in which this’ll be around for a bit before they kill it off and hopefully make room for the next SAME radio

thats cool! but a question i have in mind, will midland change the box of the newer 120? or will it remain the same? because iirc on the bottom left on the box it says: “WR120B.” will they update the box to say “WR120DSP,” or will they just leave it like nothing happened to the 120?

Knowing DSP usually means "Digital Signal Processing", I wonder if the updates to this model are enhancements to how the radio processes EAS signals? Why else would they opt to update this radio with new features?

It would be interesting, especially since the Radio-On-Chip used by the WR120EZ seems to have been discontinued a couple of years ago. I don't know if they still make the chip to order for radio manufacturers (as I have purchased other radios from lesser known or new brands and they seem to continue using it), or if the WR120's are all models that have been in stock for a long time. It would be interesting to take apart one of the new ones and see. It wouldn't be unusual for them to use DSP for receiving and decoding, though. Especially now that SDR chips (and many software-operated radios in general) are affordable. [For example, the Chinese programmable radios from Baofeng] On the other hand, if they were real DSPs, it could open the door for them to be upgradeable or "modifiable"

there is no way to turn off the beeps per button press? aren't newer models supposed to be an improvement over the old one? (i unexpectedly got the WR-120DSP a couple days ago from amazon despite them advertising that they sold the WR-120B... im a little disappointed with the fact you cant turn the button beeps per press off... but everything else seems to be a pretty decent improvement.)
