Quick Low Cost TIG Filler Storage Tubes

The first film of 2021! Just a short one outlining how I quickly whipped up some inexpensive TIG storage tubes to keep my short filler rods clean and dry when not in use.
I'm still pottering in the workshop through winter, but it's too cold to stay in there for long!

I've had one or two viewers ask me what I think of my new Andeli 250 Amp TIG / MMA welder. Asking me to review a welder would be like asking someone who can't drive to review a car!
I don't even rate myself as a novice welder. Here's the proof...

That said I'm really pleased with it so far. I've a long way to go, but already I can manage a relatively clean controlled weld than needs little or no dressing afterwards. It produces no showers of sparks threatening to set the place alight, it's small and light enough to not clutter up my already overfilled garage. It has HF start, ramp up and down, pre and post gas. When I get there it will pulse and it will stick weld should the need arise.
Time will tell how long it lasts, but I'm not a heavy user earning a living from it -so hopefully a while. I couldn't justify the additional cost of AC for aluminium at this stage (the next model up). That might be one for the future...

Really like the mods to the standard ABS fittings. Funny thing about owning a lathe, *everything* looks like it needs to be machined! Great work!

Great looking! I’ve made my rack for filler rods from 2” pvc with endcaps. Bottom glued. Top enlarged so it wouldn’t be too snug.

Really cool, even more cool than your shop; a very creative solution. Here in Montana, USA, it is -10 F (-23 C) :-) but my shop is heated.

Nice one!!! I used a pvc 3" or 75mm od about about 40cm or 16" long. I bought mine threaded on both ends, with matching cups and orings so I just locked on end an I was ready to go...

Very nice! I just got a new cheap DC tig welder as well. My son and I are learning together. Which unit is that? We got the Mophorn tig-200 Dc unit. It's been surprisingly great so far

I'm sorry but you will not get much sympathy for the cold snap in the UK right now from anyone where I live. You see, the average daily temperatures here have ranged from -10C to -30C for the last two weeks and we will not be seeing anything approaching the temperatures you are enjoying until Friday or Saturday this week. It will hover around 1C for a day or two and then back down again to around -20C. Welcome to Canada. Nine months of winter and three months of poor sledding......lol

Scooter Tramp -17C in St. Louis now, with wind chill at -25C, and we are NOT happy about it. We were having a very nice climate change winter until a week or so ago.
