I think I need to study extra geometry to corner like Jeff, also you should try to get on a Forbidden Druid! Would be cool to hear your feedback about riding a shorter travel highpivot bike. Thanks for the awesome videos!

I need a bell. I learned a while back it's better to call out in plenty of time when you see someone hiking or stopped on a trail. I work for a trail builder and I hate it when someone on a bike gets right on me while I'm working. It always takes me by surprise, i.e. scares the crap outta me!!!

4:04, ik this is kinda late... but can anybody tell me why he said " I need to lean back more" if he almost had a front wheel wash-out. Doesn't that mean there wasn't enough weight on the front? Thanks
@JeffKendallWeed2 жыл бұрын
If you push into a front wheel washout it'll certainly wash, and spit you face first into the ground. If you get back, and very low on the bike, you can then pull back on the bars and carve through a turn with a nice pump. It works great on slacker, aggressive bikes, though does take a little bit of balance and energy.
@outdoorfanatic95812 жыл бұрын
@@JeffKendallWeed thank you so much for the reply, so when u lean back and push into the bike, is the weight on the front and the rear balanced? Im just asking because my cornering confidence is minimal lol. Thanks again

@JeffKendallWeed3 жыл бұрын
100% real time. I'm pretty short at 5'8" and I have a very low to the bike riding style, so my footage always has an extra bit of "speed" to it. I'm not riding crazy fast, I'm generally hitting most sections at upper expert class, lower pro class pace. Once in a while I'll get inspired and will pin short sections at all full tilt boogie, which TBH would be comparable to today's pros. But I can't sustain that pace, and am not willing to take that risk anymore!

@@JeffKendallWeed sorry about that, didn’t mean for a moment you were speeding it up!! More just commenting on how fast you’re going! Hi Jeff! I own an SB130LR and was planning to pickup some i9 EN 305's. For bikes like the SB130 w/ high anti-squat, how is the pedal kickback? Is the kickback really noticeable in tech? Is it just a question of getting used to the higher engagement? I have the 54T star ratchet presently...
@JeffKendallWeed3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason, great question! I haven't ever noticed pedal feedback on the SB130 with my Hydra hubs. In fact, the only bikes where I've ever experienced noticeable feedback were a 2004 Santa Cruz Heckler and a 2003 Yeti ASX. Those were high single pivots. The difference between 54t and 692 is pretty subtle. The difference between 20-24 pts and 54 -108 is far more noticeable.

I really like the SB130! I demo'd one and cleared a section on my local trails I could never clear on my Ripley or Ripmo. To be fair, I always thought it was a "me issue", which still probably holds true. But I think I was able to get more traction, maybe the "Switch Xfinity" made the difference? Or even the tires...LOL?
@JeffKendallWeed3 жыл бұрын
Glad you got to try one! I'm in love with the geometry of the 130LR. Similar to the regular 130 but with a 160 fork and a longer stroke shock, so more sag. this slackens it out a little over the regular 130. I don't notice significantly more traction between the 130 and the Ripley/Ripmo, they all feel similar in that regard. TBH these bikes are all so short travel that the main thing I notice is if there is enough progression so I don't bottom out constantly.
