I remember this hack, the flat cotton pads are nice too, have you ever use an old egg carton “cardboard” fill the egg holders with candle wax and dryer lint, and then cut them up, I always carry some candle wax and lint in my little pouch

I use a gallon baggie and toss a bunch of cotton balls in it, then put a big spoonful of Vaseline in it. Seal it and just knead it like bread until they're all coated with it.

My go to ( less messy ) is a marble size piece of pine sap in a cotton ball.

i like to keep cotton balls in a medicine pill bottle and then put vaseline in the lid. that way i can control how much vaseline gets on the cotton ball

Why not gently pull the cotton ball, stretching it out. Then coat it in vaseline, working the product into the fibers? It washes off easily with soap and water. I use dryer lint in empty toilet paper roll, or cut paper towel rolls. Set standing up in a cardboard egg carton, pour a little melted wax in the roll. I've melted pieces of candles, crayons. Use inside or outside
