i agree about the 2500 wheels being harder to get back on due to the lack of studs
@vanlifebiker3 жыл бұрын
Haven't removed a wheel yet on mine so it was cool to find out. I'm very familiar though owning many old VW's over the years. Can't wait til my build is done so I can hit the road soon.

Do you have a video of changing the fan clutch and torque specs? Thank you guys! :) Always waiting for more vids on T1N Sprinters.
@jmetteer2693 жыл бұрын
Torque value is 33 ft/lbs or 45 Nm It is posted on Europarts SD listing for the sprinter fan.
@FloridaVanMan3 жыл бұрын
We do: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6nSkHSqmKmnlbs Like Jake said, 45Nm is the torque but this is not so critical and I've never seen one come loose too easily or accidentally. My torque wrench & hex-socket wont fit in with the radiator installed so I guess at tight-enough.
@jmetteer2693 жыл бұрын
@@FloridaVanMan Europarts thinks it is an important spec... ***We will no longer accept returns on these fan clutches as being defective, due to an abundance of people not torquing the center bolt properly. This allows it to slip and freewheel on the water pump pulley face.***

@@jmetteer269 Good to know and duly noted. I keep learning every day. I tell people all the time, just because you haven't had a problem doesn't mean you won't. Maybe I should listen to myself more often? LOL

Any plans to do a 3500 rear brake video? :D Brake sensors... those look easily swappable without taking everything apart? Does it take removing the wheel to get access or is there access without going through that process?
@FloridaVanMan3 жыл бұрын
No, they are easy to access with the wheel off but it can be done with nimble fingers and ability to feel what you can't see. Wheel size will effect this access.

Maybe I missed it, but no comment about the rotors? How does one know when they need replacement? Thanks!
@FloridaVanMan2 жыл бұрын
When the rotors get worn too thin they need to be replaced. We don't have the proper calipers to measure the thickness but rotors are cheap and reasonable easy to install.

Hi Florida Van Man! As always, a big thanks to you all for your "how to" videos! One question: I don't think I saw any "anti rattle" spring in there. Is that common? I see a "spring" clip on the parts diagram, but maybe they are not 100% necessary? Does this correspond with brake pad design? Thanks again!
@FloridaVanMan2 жыл бұрын
Not sure! I have seen that spring on other vans and didn't think about it when doing this one. I hadn't done brakes in several years.
@ManWander4 ай бұрын
so, it's okay to lift from under the suspension?
@FloridaVanMan4 ай бұрын
There are specific lift points welded to the under side, and the frame rails are always safe to lift. Avoid lifting from the body or axel tube.

Is the brake wear indicator referring to the front pads only on the 3500’s ? In other words, once that light comes on, would I potentially have to do anything with the dual wheel in the back ? If so , does the same principle apply to the dual wheels? Thank you
@FloridaVanMan10 ай бұрын
The brake wear indicators on our vans notoriously come on way too early with 30% life left in the pads. They will ideally wear evenly so when the front pads need replaced, the back pads are worn close enough to change them also. Getting the dual wheels off and even jacking up the rear of a 3500 Sprinter can be much more challenging than a 2500 Sprinter, but the basic process is the same. Be sure you get the lugs tight again. We have a video on proper lug bolt tightening because too many Sprinters lost a wheel last year.

@@FloridaVanMan Awesome Thank you! Are the brakes the same? Or is it a completely different set up in the rear dual wheels?
@FloridaVanMan10 ай бұрын
There are a few styles of caliper & pads. I'm not sure how they relate to 2500/3500 and different years. @@winnyjstew

Great video guys! Once again. I'm having an issue with the outside of my front tires wearing, I'm thinking it could be an alignment issue. I've seen some other videos and it looks like it's a common problem with 2006 sprinters. What do you think
@FloridaVanMan2 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with any alignment fixes, but I'd agree tire wear is either alignment or turning corners too fast. Hehe
