Codes are strict in my county. Everything has to be notched, and anchored below the frost line. Approved anchor's, hangers, brackets. No more than a 4" gap on rails or steps. It all drives up the price and time. But if the entire neighborhood wants to party on your deck at the same time it wont fall. Lol

@@LastLeafStudioVideo a lot of places probably don't care. What you built would probably outlast and outperform the pool. Very cool. What is the math you use with the stair stringers
@LastLeafStudioVideo3 жыл бұрын
Stairs I measure the height of the pool deck in this case we will use 30. Divide 30 by 7 because 7 is the ideal step height. So 30 ÷ 7 = 4.28. You can't have .28 of a step so you will have 4 steps. Now you take 30 ÷ 4 and come up with 7.5. Your steps with be 7.5 tall. To find how far your steps stick out multiply the number of steps (4) by the width of your stair tread. If you have 8 inch stair treads your stairs will stick out 32 inches. Hope this makes sense.

Did you have to put an x-brace of 2x4's on any side of the build to stabilize it? Or was it too low to really require it? This is exactly what I was thinking of doing, but I'd love to position it so all the equipment is underneath, and maybe I can do a small rain-guard/ceiling underneath the floor boards to protect the equipment further. I guess UV will be my primary concern, so this would help greatly with that as well.

Another question. What length screws did you use for the project not including the rails?

2 1/2 for framing 1 5/8 for attaching deck boards.

Hey! So I’m following along but how did you figure out the angle of the stringer boards for the stairs. It looks like you just kind of “put them wherever and went with it”, did you just do it by looks or was there some sort of measurement to figure out the angle

I did the math off camera. I'm sure there's a video out there explaining how to figure out stairs way better than I ever could

I was looking at videos on how to do stairs but they seem complicated because of the angles needed to cut, but your idea seem better and faster to do. How have they been holding up? Has any one over 200lbs been up those stairs?

They are holding up just fine. There has been somebody about 250. Your easiest option would probably be precut stringers from home depot or lowes

So when setting the posts in the blocks you use braces. This keeps the posts plumb as u build the frame, right?

Yes, that's exactly right.

Just built this was wondering if you had an issues with it shaking? Or moving slightly with everything on it

I added 45° braces. I guess I left that part out of the video.

Did you use gravel under the 4x4 pavers? Curious about deck sinking from a good rain
@LastLeafStudioVideo3 жыл бұрын
No gravel. Where I live I could probably set the posts right on the ground and not worry. When you dig all you are doing is looking for the next rock.
