Thanks for this! My pedals came with the little safety clips, but no instructions. I had no idea what they were for. Feels much safer now.

Good to find your channel, now subscribed. The action sequence was great; you certainly need all the protective gear you can wear on that terrain. I've fitted these Promend pedals on two Dahon folders; a 20" Vitesse and 26" wheel Cadenza. The pedals have much more grip than the folding ones supplied by Dahon. I always felt there was a danger of the foot slipping off and now feel much more secure.

Thanks, I'm glad you found it useful. Good luck with the pedals. Note there is a video where I retired them off a couple of years later, but the did some gnarly work 👍. I replaced them with a new set.

What a great review! Thank you so much! I wanted to buy those for my folding bike because plastic pedals which i have now are a bit scary (i’m afraid they’re gonna break). After your test, i’m sure that they are excellent choice for my riding style (asphalt 99% ). Thank you once again!

Thanks🙌. Just to give you an update, I've fitted these pedals to my downhill Bike and bikepacking bike as well. I've ridden stumpy, this blue bike, plus the others quite a lot, without drama👍

I reccomend holding the opposite ecrank arm while using a pedal wrench or spanner, nowadays many pedals will only have room for pedal wte ch or hex key, not a spanner. I have the bike in a repairdtand, but can do it with bike on the floor too, the pedals loosen to the back of the bike on both sides, easy to remember. A pedal wrench is easy to use, longer for more leverage, just pedal using the pedal wrench, at the end you can hold the pedal so I twont drop. The eis no need to unthread it a smuch as you did by hand. I reccomend to avoid doing it the way you do it, it's easier to hurt yourself, like getting thigh or knee scraped up by the pins.

One of the bikes I'm interested in has ''screw on pedals'' is that a dealbreaker for these type, or is that a good thing?
@NoSecondSeason Жыл бұрын
Normally bikes have screw on pedals, with the quick release pedal the screw on part of the pedal is separate to the rest of the pedal. There are many reasons I have the pedals, but they are not essential👍

Thanks for noticing and bothering with my question, here is a small reward in exchange: I don't have a bike, have not been on one for over 40 years, but like many, I'm going to jump back on one through the Fat Tire Ebike path, anyway, the link I'll provide here is another reason, why I have to look into Bike Security on a deeper level, and the quick releasing and re-attaching pedals, might be something I'll feel the need to get, because only angle grinder resistant locks and chains (which are rather heavy) are effective, This tool is available for only 200.00 now: (a quieter cordless bolt cutter) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rH7daWyOn7eLoJI @@NoSecondSeason

Thanks for the detailed review! I may get a pair for my ZiZZO folder, which is a street or packed trails bike. The folding pedals the bike came with are relatively small. I like the size and detachable features of your pedals.

I’ve had two pairs of pedals with the exact same mechanism and they only last a few months. They rotate fine, and the little yellow tab held up, but the quick release mechanism quickly attracts road grime and seizes up making them impossible to pop off. Have noticed pop off pedals with other style release mechanisms on the internet, maybe they work better.
@NoSecondSeason2 жыл бұрын
Did you ever service or clean them? I regularly wash mine out with brake cleaner then repack the grease.
@bebopkirby2 жыл бұрын
@@NoSecondSeason l did not, maybe because i’ve never had any bike parts that have failed that fast. It did cross my mind that maybe if l had soaked the mechanism in kerosene every other week or so that maybe they would have lasted longer. l would like to know more about how and how often you clean yours to keep them going. l did like them when they worked, maybe i’ll try a 3rd pair.
@NoSecondSeason2 жыл бұрын
I don't ride often, I clean them when they feel gritty when I pull back the coupling. I just squirt inside the coupling while pulling it back to expose the balls. Whether they are meant to work dry or greased, I don't know, perhaps ask Promend, but I grease them, again making sure to get inside where the balls are.
@RussTNails-fw9ds Жыл бұрын
You should use a hex key the same size as the hex insert on the pedal ,use it from inside the pedal shank and there will be no issues in doing up or undoing
@NoSecondSeason11 ай бұрын
What hex would that be?
@RussTNails-fw9ds11 ай бұрын
@@NoSecondSeason 8mm on my pedals,come through from the inside it makes it easier.
@NoSecondSeason11 ай бұрын
These don't have a hex, they have a spigot as they're quick release.
@RussTNails-fw9ds11 ай бұрын
@@NoSecondSeason the hex on mine is inside where the spigot inserts on the part on the bike ,accessible from the opposite side the pedal spigot inserts from.
@NoSecondSeason11 ай бұрын
Nope, no hex on these, the coupler has a hole all the way through. Do you have different pedals?
@davidnorth88083 жыл бұрын
I’ve ordered a pair, as you know. Maybe put a bit of Copaslip or similar anti-seize paste on the threaded spigot - the spanner looks a bit iffy.
@NoSecondSeason3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I thought about lube but I'm thinking that they need to be grit free so the balls in the QR coupling seat properly. I think I'll clean and re-grease them frequently. It'll be interesting to see how the couplings fare after a mucky ride😬

Changing pedals indeed! I've never heard the like of it, indeed I haven't. I been riding bikes for 71 years (not counting my time on tricycles) and I've never had cause to change a pedal. So I shan't be buying these expensive luxuries. You're probably thinking I'm not a proper cyclist but I must inform you that I was a professional in my youth when I worked as a butcher's boy which involved delivering heavy loads of meat in the basket up extremely steep hills in my home town. In fact they were so steep that one day in 1957 the stress was so severe that the spindle sheared right off and I was sent falling down onto the cross-bar injuring myself quite badly........and you talk about if a pedal fell off! I know you mountain bikers walk up hills or go up in a lift of some sort and just ride down. Spoilt brats!!
@NoSecondSeason3 жыл бұрын
🤣 if only you'd got a lift to the top of the hills back in the day, you may not have fallen off. You wouldn't have bumped your head and you'd be normal now🤣
