When I began watching the first vid of the installation, I was as bit......I don't know......I wondered about a mechanical review from an obviously non mechanical lady. For instance, I don't believe in either of these videos that she addresses the bearings, ball or plastic bushing, of these pedals, which is usually considered a most important factor. But I'm happy to note that she makes the grade in that she used them for a year with obviously very heavy use and notes there is no play in the shaft. If they don't go all rattles in a year, the bearings are good whatever kind they are. Thanks for the info, mam.

I found these pedals useful when carrying my MTB in my car, but recently I’ve had a lot of trouble with one of the ball couplings failing to release. I think this is from dirt ingress. I’ll try immersing it in a bowl of chain cleaner, but if that doesn’t work I’ll have to dismantle it, which could be a major faff. I’ve never bothered to fit the yellow safety clips, but I doubt if that is related to my problem.

Hum, I used to clean mine thoroughly every ride but I never clean them now and have no problems. Perhaps contact the seller and see if they'll replace them?

@@terrencefoley509 Having dismantled my sticking one I found that the main shaft had a burr on it. It was ok once I’d polished this off, but I expect the problem will return - the shaft material (stainless steel) is pretty soft. Probably ok if you don’t remove the pedals very often.

@@NoSecondSeason I might, though I understand why you might not: I'm 73, and I'm considering these pedals for an electric bike for occasionally going to the grocery and for a leisurely scoot about town to get some air. (I'll be storing the folding bike in my SUV.) The last thing I'll be doing is hot footing it through the woods on a steep trail while standing up to pedal harder. Also, this is where the mechanical thing comes into play: this kind of problem, releasing the pedals while in use without the clips, is something that is sort of dependent on how your foot addresses the pedals. Very often this kind of problem would become apparent very quickly and happen continuously because an individual's foot always sits on the pedals a very certain way. I'd ride them for a couple of weeks, and if the problem never happens, I'd figure it's probably never going to happen. Again, great reviews!!

Thank you, I wouldn't dare ride without the clips on rough surfaces but if I was doing a gentle ride on surfaced roads, I might be tempted

So your annoyed your old and forgetful and that's somehow the pedals fault? Get a bracket to hold them on bike when released.

I just noticed on eBay, there's a quick release doodad which clamps under your seat & holds the detached pedals. Worth the $14 just to test. But yeah, when I get mine, I can see me having to develop a serious routine to avoid losing, forgetting, or otherwise having a brain fart like that.
