Ah, back when The Fisher was still The Fisher and not a zombie brand of trash. Gosh, I miss those days.

It is always satisfying to watch a pro work through a problem with trouble shooting and over-coming a mistake that if I did it I would be overwhelmed. Very good video.

I'm always impressed with your videos which show how quickly you are able to diagnose and repair something that likely drove someone mad for months before they brought it to you.

Came out great! I had to do the same exact procedure with a Philco Ford table solid state stereo table radio. Left channel was dead. Traced to 2 caps in the left channel path on the output board. Replaced both those caps. Both channels working now. Luckily for me they were easy to get to.

I had something along those lines in ‘88, I think it was a 440? Pretty good rig, but nothing compared to the 800c I purchased later

WOW, that was an easy fix! My dad has a 440T, he bought when I was in 1st grade about 1966. Still plays ok, one of these days I'm going to give it a look over. I believe it has output transformers instead of caps. Visually it look similar to this one.

@m.k.8158
@m.k.8158 2 жыл бұрын
actually, no problem with using DeoxIT for pots-just use the correct type:F-series NOT D-series. I'm guessing that he had problems with D-series-this is for METAL TO METAL contacts. So it's ok for contacts, switches, etc-but the only type of pots that it is ok for is WIRE-WOUND ones. Normal pots use either conductive carbon or conductive plastic as the resistive element, and these should not be treated with D-series DeoxIT. F-series DeoxIT (used to be called FaderLube)is safe for pots.

@JordanPier 2 жыл бұрын
Voltage on the cap is 38 volts
@davidnorton573
@davidnorton573 2 жыл бұрын
@@JordanPier Sounds about right, half the power supply, however your measurement is static. Consider that the capacitor does have a dynamic voltage applied. A high frequency spike into the inductive load of the speaker will drive the voltage across the capacitor up. The original designer considered the 65V part appropriate, I wouldn't second guess them. Anyway, it is your lookout.

I'm surprised it doesn't have more dodgy caps, that's a reliable old beast :-D. The only fisher i knew was a cheap and nasty plastic thing. That must have been the take over effect. it looked like a toy, not a serious amplifier at all.

Hello there and greetings from germany! If you do the FM / IF Alignment with a sweep generator... is it mandatory to have a trigger function for the oscilloscope? My sweep generator sweeps back and forth just fine with 10,7 centered but i cant trigger nor do marks with it. So i'm not sure if its worth messing around with it or not. Thanks in advance!
