During my time in Delft I cycled this road many times on my racing bike. One time, at 3:30, I was told to stop by a man standing in the middle of the road. Being a solo female cyclist I decided the safest thing would be to continue riding... a few seconds later I ended up in the middle of a herd of sheep trying to cross the road. Both the farmer and I found it quite hilarious, beautiful stretch of road!

@@iBakSteen Are there traffic lights in areas like that? I do understand her dicision. And to be honest. If i dont feel safe because of my surroundings, and there is a red traffic sign. If there were no cars and safe to cross, i wouldnt stop either. I do not scare easily, due to my job. I am 5'7" (1,75m) and build accordingly. So if i dicide to run a red trafficlight, i am really uncomfortable.

the western part of the Netherlands, called Holland, is largely below sea level. You see high dikes, water pumping stations and ditches everywhere. Everything to pump out the water, to prevent flooding. The Netherlands is a fluvial part of the river Rhine (which originates in the Swiss mountain area of the Alps), also called a delta, created tenthousands of years ago. The central and eastern parts of the Netherlands were formed in the last ice age, and higher up there is less risk of flooding. Many old original windmills were used to pump water away.

Not totally correct. The river Maas, which originates in France, also ends in the Netherlands (Rotterdam). The ditches you mentioned also have an important function in our irrigation system

But most importantly forget to mention this "scientist" and that is??? The Dutch built the west of the country all by themselves with a little help from Mother Nature!! Now stop complaining that the Netherlands is ±6.5 meters below sea level, so what? You will only live in one of the Alpine countries where you have to be wary of falling rocks and avalanches, which are much more dangerous than it will be here, I live 4 high so it doesn't bother me😇🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Definitely not the most ugly part of the Netherlands. Yes, it is between some crowded cities, but the place itself is quiet and peaceful. And the typical landscape of Holland. Midden-Delfland is a stunning countryside area in the middle of the Randstad with even beautiful nature, for example 'De Vlietlanden', which you can explore best by boat. Tip for a visit during summer time.
@edmondmuller7082 Жыл бұрын
@@ronaldvanhemiksem3544 Well, let's conclude that everyone has it's own perspective of beautiness. To me, West and South Netherlands are an example of how you can destroy a landscape if you give full priority to car's and economy. South Holland is even worse. A stamp of 2 football fields in the middle of concrete to me is not nature, but a garden. Find out yourself is maybe best. But good to know for foreigners that there are much more beautiful country sides in the Netherlands that the West en South. I moved away from that part of the Netherlands ages ago and I am still grateful for it, seeing my old friends still live in that chaotic part. Always glad when I can leave again to East.:-)
