I think this would be one of the best storage rooms for convenient use if you could scale it up. You just throw your shulker boxes in & search for them latter.

I had the same feeling that it's a really practical system. I'll work on a better interface for it and expand the storage space in the next update.

Very awesome! Ever since Etho made the Pixel system I've been interested in this kind of item storage system. Maybe as an interface you could just have a chest with all the searchable items and then you just press q on the item you want to search, it gets picked up by a hopper and put into the filter. You could also detect when the item is thrown into the hopper and maybe make a failsafe system with that, so you can't search when you haven't selected anything. A nice addition to this system would be a sorting system that's linked up to it. So you can just dump your items into the system and they get automatically sorted into the correct shulker boxes. Maybe a modified Gnembon shulker sorting system. Keep up the great work man!

A really cool concept here to is to place named items in your shulkers, and then search them using a copy of that item. Then you can have a search system without really losing any resources like having to keep a diamond in the system

Really cool. I watched it when too tired and thought somehow it was reading the names of stuff and didn't catch the tags were in the box. Very clever, and it makes so much more sense now.

I found a solution to the UI. Put a hopper going into the filter hopper, so it's diagonal to the chest. Then stand in line with both the chest and the hopper. Open then chest and press q on the item you want to search.

I think this has 2 use cases for me an i'll be implimenting both: 1st: The nonstackable item "sorting" with a tag is a genius idea, I can't wait to do that one 2nd: As a bulk storage system for my farms. I'm trying to stay away from the classic sorting system for my main storage as it creates a massive footprint. A multi item sorter and a "bulk" shulker storage is exactly what I personally need.

It's a simple feature but I love that barrels are both chest and full blocks so that we can use them to compact our redstone

Ótimo conceito! Venho usando seu categorizer, que é simplesmente genial, em conjunto com shulker loader. Mas pela complexidade acaba sendo lento para a quantidade de itens que vêm das fazendas automáticas. Contudo se esse sistema de busca for rápido suficiente para ler vários hoppers seria possível fazer um sistema com shulker loaders provenientes de cada fazenda que não ficam presos em nenhum chest mas sim rodando, como numa corrente de agua e gelo, criando assim uma especie de memória virtual onde o chest do search system impediria o despawn. Quem sabe seja esse o segredo para storage infinito rs

So I have been working on this concept since etho showed it off. I really like the idea but there are some down sides to it. I think it has its place in a storage system but not as the heart of the system. It’s way to slow even if you could speed yours up (yours is a bit faster and smaller then mine) and I only say that cause what if you had 20 chest to look in? Yes there are things to do to speed it up but in the end a binary storage system with a call center would be much faster. Imo I’m really impressed on the design though! Keep it up!!!

I very nearly had a go at this, but the time it takes to search is quite frustrating when you use it a lot. It has advantages, but having to manually sort out your items into shulkers is a shame. Maybe if it sorted the items too... but I haven't found a good way of doing that.

I like the system but I was wondering, how would you add something at the bottom which takes the boxes with the searched item and then adds that item into its own box. This should end up saving space over the long term, and getting you all of the items so you only need to grab one box instead of multiple?

Have you had any problems with new hopper hitbox, because I've made simillar sorter few months ago, and broken shulker boxes sometimes escaped the system, so I have to use minecart with hopper in upper half and 3x3 water sream in lower half. Also I've noticed it's not worh to have multiple chests of items you want to search, when you want auto collect item from sorter after work is finished.

Yes, I've noticed this problem just today. The top is ok but the bottom might need a small change. I'm considering having the shulker boxes stored in minecart chests rather than regular chests to speed up the system since in survival the player won't have so many shulker boxes normally anyways without changing the game somehow.

Yes but this machine is more like a component. You hook it up to a better interface for searching items and later on decide to store similar item in the appropriate shulker boxes or simple take these boxes with the player.
