No problem at all. It really is great. For me second only to construction lines (I have a video on that too if you're interested) but that is paid for (though has a lot of great other functions)

Thanks again! I've just started to dig deeper into your video on the construction lines. $11 is not particulary steep price for really useful set of features.
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
@legolubinski I totally agree. My thought process is get it now because as more features are added I can see it go up in price. Though there is often an end of Summer Blender Market Sale which is good for 25% off so that could be worth waiting for.

I find myself using your library of content as a pseudo-Google to find solutions to my problems. So, when I saw how painful snapping objects in Blender was, I thought you would probably have a solution for this, and HOT DAMN, did you have the solution! There's also the free "CAD Transforms" that do something like this a little more clumsily, but it lets you do things like moving a set of verts based on snapping unselected verts. It also includes scaling and rotation stuff that's a lot more powerful than comes in Blender. "Scale points A,B,and C such that point D is 23 mm from point E."

I've heard. I need to have a look at it though generally between this and Construction Lines I've never had the need for anything else personally.

This is similar to CAD Transform addon, but more neat and straightforward, simpler, less buggy (or not buggy at all) and better implemented into Blender, as it respects merge vertices option. It's only missing rotation and scaling but maybe in the future...
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
Agreed. It's also similar to the tool in Construction Lines (and add on I love for CAD like modelling and some great other features) but as you say I think this may have the edge in how the transformation is presented and the control you have on it.

Help me please.. Im new to Blender, how do I move any object with precision? Example I wanna move the box to the left about 20cm or 150.5cm or 300.15cm. It like select and move the object to the direction we want move then type in the value. ( like a features in Sketchup ). Is it possible in Blender?
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
Yep. If you click the object and then "g" to start moving. Then hit the key for whatever axis you want to move it on (so "x" would lock the movement to the x axis). Then just type the number you want it to move by on the number pad and hit enter. You can see what's being typed in the top left of the screen but it's pretty small.

Do I understand correctly that it does not rotate the object along the direction of normals? That is, conditionally, if I need to attach the face of an object that stands straight to the face that is rotated by 45 degrees, the object I want to attach will not rotate?
@KidamaruDesigns Жыл бұрын
Like in the original blender functionality when you turn on "rotate object to target".

Thanks for the comment and coming back with the answer. As you have said the option is there still, though for new users it may be a little less intuitive because of the normal direction on edges/corners are half way between the corresponding faces.

As you have worked with both: Is this repetetive, if you have Construction Lines? Or in other words: As I'm planning to get Construction Lines, would I still use Quick Snap,once I got used to Construction Lines?
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
If I had to pick one I would use construction lines. You don't need to say what you're snapping to with that so it's faster and has more options like snapping relative to other object. Admittedly I do like having both as if you are working with really complicated mesh being able to just snap to one thing can be helpful bur I'd use construction lines 98% of the time over this I think.
