I don't really follow much of identity's lore, but why do survivors have a hunter version of themselves?

Most characters are survivors when they come to the manor, that's why you can see some hunter in survivor form. Hunter form usually manifests from the (Siren song)drugs consumption by other survivor that would hallucinate their teammate as a hunter. I hope this explains a bit.
